I've been able to connect four Windows PCs (XP, 7, 8.1, 10) to an Epson all-in-one printer. Although my printer is wireless capable, I find USB connectivity more reliable and less frustrating. The packaged software (CD), as well as the included Installation Guide, are antiquated (Windows XP/Vista; Mac OS X) but were still useful for one of my connected PCs. Accessing the product manufacturer's website is required to obtain an up-to-date User Manual and to install applicable drivers for PCs with newer operating systems. This applies to Windows (7, 8.1, 10) and Mac (10.6 and above) with an available USB Type-A port. One 6-foot USB A-B cable is also included. Each of my PCs printed successfully to the one printer as intended.

This is a good switch for connecting a few PCs to a NAS box which has fast disks. The price is reasonable. Plug in the cables and it just works. Many modern motherboards have 2.5 GB ethernet, which matches up well with the transfer rate of modern rotating disks in a reasonably priced NAS system. Using one 10 Gbe port for the NAS, one 10 Gbe port to chain to anther switch when/if needed, and one 2.5 Gbe port to connect to an existing 1 Gbe network, allows 3 PCs to be connected at 2.5 Gbe speed.

I bought this switch to upgrade a 10/100 switch in my network. With computers coming with Gigabit ethernet ports standard these days, my old 10/100 equipment was limiting my network bandwidth. It's just a simple home network with a few PCs wired up, so I did not need a fancy managed switch or a business class one. This TP-Link 5 port switch provided all the ports I needed in a simple connect-and-go package. The metal casing is much nicer than the plastic ones, while helping to disperse heat better. I simply put this in place of the old switch, plugged in the cables, and I was off transferring files at theoretical Gigabit speeds. I'm only limited now by the speed of the drives in the systems. And should I ever get greater than 100Mbps internet, all my connected PCs will be able to benefit from that speed. Definitely a solid choice for anyone who needs a dumb switch to expand or upgrade their wired home network.

I replaced 100mb Network cards in ten WinXP PCs with the StarTech 10/100/1000 cards, and the upgrade went great. All the drivers installed no problem, and the response time improvement on the network was exactly as I hoped - lightning fast!

Windows 10 Pro AiO PCs are unavailable. So, I built one for a client using this Quick Release Bracket. the fit was exact and the security screw was the frosting on the cake.
