my CPU hasn't arrived but the features this board offer are insane. it has enough pcie lanes for my 3 m.2's and a video card and my memory was on the approved list. Hopefully on wednesday it will power up (should bios flashback worked to update the bios already) with just plopping the cpu in the socket 5 |

This CPU crushes workloads. I've been using mine for AI and data-heavy workloads & it burns through tasks. Really like that there's a high power option again besides the TR-PRO CPUs, as I get the PCIe lanes I need for all the drives I have and the processing power for professional workloads. Also love the amount of RAM I can eventually add once prices land back on Earth (due to current supply problems/shortage). Everything I throw at it is effortless. Great addition if you need a solid workstation CPU and don't need all the PCIe lanes of the 7965wx. 5 |

There's no other product quite like it... but in keeping with the typical idiosyncrasies of the Blackmagic Design product lineage, these things require a bit of special knowledge to use effectively. That's especially true when you're in a hurry-up situation. Thinking of each input/output connector as its own video card helps to think through how it works in various situations like key/fill or any of the 1,2, 3 or 4 in/out combos. The price is certainly right, and I've had no reliability issues with the two that we own and use regularly. I also like that it's just 4 lanes on the bus, so it can go in a lesser slot on a machine with few lanes to spare, and still give you the full functionality of the card. Connectors should be labeled more clearly as many folks don't understand which one is which in actual applications. 5 |
