2017 Best Windows Laptop For Cubase Daw

2024-09-26 07:51:17

I am new to DAW, and chose this unit to connect a vocal mic and my Yamaha MODX to my Windows laptop.  The B&H staff helped me choose the right model for my needs, and it arrived in two days.  Im no expert, but the thing is super rugged, weighs a ton, and works as advertised.

I bought it about month ago - use it everyday with Cubase Pro and Windows. Finally I have something that helps to automate “few steps tasks” and place it under physical button with custom graphics. Now I can focus on music and not breaking fingers on key combinations (which locations I have forgotten anyway). The only thing missing is color and gradient palette to select for button without the need to create and download them online.

Im using the UR22 as an interface with my laptop using Cubase Elements 9.5. My setup is ultra simple. A Yamaha MOX6 and tons of plug ins. You may have heard that the UR22 monitors in mono which is true. A bit of getting used to. But then on playback oh my...flawless. This thing is 24 bit 192k and it sounds it. This unit defines bang for the buck. A gem.

Seems to do everything as advertised, and works fine with Windows using only the driver (no DAW). It has enough gain for my very low output Shure SM57 mikes, as long as I don't want to use them very far away from my mouth. And it sounds really good on a Rode NT-1. I did have some electrical interference blips result from having my phone too close while recording, but it's possible that some of this was contributed by the mic electronics also/instead.

Immediate, solid performance under Windows 7. Simultaneous sound from my OS and DAW. Several problems I was having with latency and glitches on my previous interface simply vanished. System feels rock solid. Well done MOTU.

Bought this to connect a large Universal Audio rig to my new Windows DAW Workstation. Two 8 core UA Satelites, 2 Apollo 8p's, and and Apollo Twin mkii Quad, all Thunderbolt 2. Simply connected this to my workstation and the end of the Thunderbolt 2 chain to this and everything worked well.

Snappy. This Nvme is perfect for a new build. Windows is ready in less than 25 secs., and all my app and DAW software works quicker.

If you're tired of manually changing the settings and parameters on TotalMix and swapping back and forth between your DAW windows and TM, then this is the controller for you. The assignable functions allow you to customize the controller to fit your needs. It also has a foot switch input as well, which I've got assigned to talkback. The controller feels robust and it's def got some weight to it. The jog wheel is very firm with high resolution. It works smoothly with my RME UFX and Macbook Pro Late 2013 15' (OSX 10.9.5). They nailed it!

I spent a long time looking into various 5.1 surround bass management solutions that would work with regular Windows audio as well as audio through a DAW for studio and game development use. There are various software solutions for each, but most would not give consistent results between Windows system and DAW audio. I started looking for either a bass management hardware unit (some add latency) or a surround controller with bass management (way more expensive than this sub), then came upon the few Genelec subwoofers which have built-in surround bass management. I only have a 5.1 surround system so I chose this sub, and am happy I did so. While the cost is higher than I would like, there aren't that many other subs that handle surround bass management, and it handles both bass management and LFE duties well. The manual is comprehensive, and there are little switches and a knob on the side that allow you to customize rolloff, boosts, power saving, 4 phases, and sensitivity. Noise floor is very low, and it pumps out enough oomph for my calibrated small home studio even with the largest rolloff as well as the lowest input sensitivity. I'm not using it to shake the house, but rather to hear the lowest frequencies correctly while mixing and listening to all kinds of stuff. It's also smaller than some other subs, and that's a plus for my room as well. I don't really have anything to complain about for this sub other than Genelec's pricing, but since there are few subs that handle surround bass management and I didn't find any cheaper than this, it is what it is. Great product.
