35Mm Film Camera Buying Guide

I love this camera. It is beautifully made - solid, simple, elegant, and made of real wood. The object itself inspires me - it's very appropriate for the material process of making real emulsion based film images. Everything you need has been perfectly thought of and solved without silly bells and whistles. Tripod holes in the right place. The exposure guide that comes with is a very useful guide to get started. I've developed only one test exposure and it came out pretty good - the next large batch of tests is in the developer right now. Sharpness is the only quality question to really be determined. But I love the process of working with it and it's completely changed the way I work, allowing me to really slow down and enjoy each exposure. It has brought fun back into my photography. I like the feel of it in my hands, experimenting with long exposures, and even fitting the wooden dowels each time. It's just a beautiful piece. I am so grateful to whomever designed and built this camera. It feels like a labor of love. Yes, you can make your own pinhole, but these aren't that expensive and they are a gorgeous wood and you're set up for success as soon as you start experimenting with this beautifully crafted camera. I have two of them - the normal focal length (approx 45mm for a 35mm conversion) and the wide (which is about 24mm I think in 35mm terms). I may get the superwide eventually.

I have always gotten a Busch guide when buying a new Nikon body. Busch offers a personal, easy to read, knowledgeable and comprehensive guide to setting up and using the D850. The D850 is a complex body. It's not a camera that can just be picked up and used. Busch provides a thorough explanation with visual support of recommended settings and how to use the camera in a variety of settings . It's an invaluable friend.

Ended up buying four in different colors for the types of 35mm film I use regularly. Fits nicely in a pocket, has a nice finish and weight Film has to be removed from the plastic canister to fit, something to remember when taking film from cold storage on a humid day.

This is film that I have been buying and using since it was invented. I have a film recorder and I can print your digital images onto this slide film. You end up with 35mm slides or I can cut the film and put your image into retro keychain viewers. See more at colorslide-dot-com.

HP5 is always a go to for 35mm photography. With buying the film I'm bulk, the answer is pretty simple. More for for less $ per roll Highly recommend as the film I received was fairly fresh having the expiration date set in 2026. Once I run out, will most likely buy again!

Its ilford 100, if you are buying 4x5 film you have shot this in 35mm and 120, you know what you are getting into. Reliable and repeatable.

The Baltic Birch 4x5 pinhole camera is the perfect introduction to both large format photography and pinhole photography. I've used the camera with film and paper and am very pleased with its performance. If you want to explore pinhole photography with negatives that are large enough for beautiful enlargement, you need this camera. The construction is solid and beautiful. The camera features two tripod screws, one for portrait and one for landscape mode. Whether you're using film with a 4x5 film back (not included) or paper, this camera is fun to use and the exposure guide that comes with it is amazingly accurate. I didn't waste one piece of film or paper because I used the guide. It was also easy to order on the B&H site and you can pay with Paypal, which is a very good feature for me. I'm glad that B&H is flexible and able to provide multiple pay possibilities. Shipping was fast and the camera was packed to the maximum with big bubble wrap and a smaller box inside the larger one. B&H cares for its customers, even for a small purchase like this one.

I use this with my mirrorless camera and the Essential Film Holder. I scan tons of 35mm film and this light works perfectly.

I use this with a Sony camera to scan 35mm film. It's flawless. I combine with the Essential Film Holder and it works very well.
