I’m mostly shooting 4K HDR and then editing to a 4K SDR output and I wanted the best production monitor picture quality for under $1,000 in a mid-sized monitor for set. The Megamon being 1080p 10-bit HDR seemed close to my requirements but honestly the picture quality, accuracy, and depth of color is so good that I really don’t miss the 4K resolution from 3-5 feet away (certainly not enough to pay 8x more than I did). The mounting options, case and hood are all great and it looks killer I’m my setup. I’m excited to get out and get shooting. 5 |

I bought two of these to use with my MacBook Pro M1 Max as a video editing workstation. ***Note that the only way I was able to display 4K at 60 hertz on both monitors simultaneously was to plug BOTH monitors directly to the MacBook via USB-C to DisplayPort cables. Once I did that and stopped trying to get them to work through the Thunderbolt 4 Dock I have, everything looks excellent.*** The resolution is great, as I can have Premiere Pro open on both monitors with one of the two showing the footage in the program window at close to actual size, which helps to see all the detail of the 4K image while editing. Colors look really good, and while this isn't a reference monitor designed for color grading Hollywood movies, it's plenty accurate for my videography work. Aside from video editing, text is super sharp and crisp, and photos and websites look excellent. Since it's an LCD, black levels are never going to look as inky black as they do on an OLED display, but that's to be expected. You can always get a small OLED TV to use as a makeshift client reference monitor. I originally wanted the Apple Studio Display, but at $1600 for one monitor, it was way too expensive for me. On Black Friday, I was able to snag TWO of these Asus ProArt 27 displays for under $800. That's less than half of ONE Apple display! Sure, it's not made of shiny aluminum, but who cares? Image quality is all I need, and this delivers in spades. Plus, they come with VESA mounting holes in the back as standard, so I was able to place them on a two-monitor VESA mounting arm and free up a bunch of space on my desk. I know the Apple display is 5K and this one is 4K, but two 4K monitors side by side get me way more resolution and work space than one 5K monitor. All in all, I heartily recommend this Asus ProArt 4K monitor to anyone looking for a high-res 27 LCD for content creation and general computing on a Mac (as long as you plug it in directly and not through a docking station). 5 |

I bought this screen (the 13.3 version) for a dual purpose - as an editing/reference monitor in my editing room (Adobe cc, da-Vinci resolve, unreal) and to use on-location connected to my sony FX6. So far - I'm very happy from the experience, especially when considering the very affordable price. pros: Image quality is good, brightness is enough for studio work (not sure for outdoors), connectivity is fair, almost no latency (their smaller F5 screen has quite a latency when inputting 4K signal that is being converted in-monitor); I've managed to get is to be relatively accurate color-wise, almost good enough to be used for professional color grading. HDMI input works great, and adapts to almost any format (4K, DCI, etc.) V-Lock battery option is great (haven't tested yet). I like the very simple stand which enables you to tilt it up/down slightly. cons: The screen is quite reflective; SDI is very strict as an input format and no conversion is offered by the monitor (the premiere timeline must be 1080P or lower, while HDMI input works perfectly. this poses an issue when trying to use SDI out to review 4K sources); Speakers are not good (but headphones from the monitor sounds ok). All in all, and hoping no issues will occur, I think it's a very worthwhile investment. Mercury playback on adobe cc does slow things down a bit, but latency with BlackMagic ultrastudio monitor and / or decklink and this monitor is almost unnoticeable. As for the SDI/HDMI issue - when connected to a camera you can set the camera to downscale, and in studio you should try to use HDMI when possible. 5 |

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This IPS 4k monitor replaces an aging 2k IPS 27", mainly used for photo editing, browsing and office-oriented document creation. The image quality is very good out-of-the-box, even better after calibration. The image is also very uniform, I don't see bleeding when displaying a black surface in a dark room. The stand is sturdy and provides the adjustments I need (height and tilt). The surface increase from 27" to 31,5" is a real improvement. For photographs browsing and editing it's outstanding, it has never been easier to explore a picture at different levels while keeping the whole view by moving back a little. For other activities it's easier to work with many documents open, like on a non-virtual desktop. The unique problem I had was a compatility one with my desktop environment, Linux Mint 21.3 with Xorg graphics and a passive Nvidia Geforce GT 710 card. When calibrating the monitor the software (dispcal) detected clipping. Also the mouse was quite laggy. The card is only able to drive a 4k monitor at 30hz (which is OK for me, I don't play games), but the monitor was driven at 60hz. Setting manually the frequency at 30hz solved the clipping and the mouse lag. Overall this monitor is a great buy. 5 |
