7.2 Volt Nimh Rechargeable Battery Pack

One of the Q&A’s says the Bescor BLS50AC dummy battery adapter kit is not compatible with the Olympus E-PL9.  I asked Bescor ( answers@bescor.com ) why the kit is compatible with the Olympus OM-D E-M5/M10, but not the Olympus Pen E PL9, since all three use the same Olympus BLS-50 battery.   The response was: “It will work. Your camera just needs to be added to our list.” The Bescor is 8V 3A. The Olympus battery is 7.2V 1175 mAh (1.175A).  I did some online research to see if a device built for 7.2V could operate at 8V.  One person describing himself as an engineer posted that 7.4V Lithium batteries actually span a 6V to 8.4v voltage range depending on state of charge of the battery.  Another “senior electrical engineer” said that because all devices are designed with some voltage tolerance value, a 7.4 volt device means 7.4 volt +/- 1 to 1.5 volts.  Still other posts indicated that you can use a 3A power adapter on a 1.5A device.  By logical extension, I figured (I don’t actually know) that since the PL9 uses a 7.2 volt battery, it is probably designed to also work at 8 volts, and is also okay running at 3A. Based on the response from Bescor and the Internet voltage and amperage responses, I decided to purchase the Bescor and use it with my PL9.  I haven’t seen any sign of overheating or other problems with this setup so far, but will update this review if that changes. I did not deduct points for the need to leave the battery compartment open because I knew that would be the case when I bought it.

Purchased the DMW-BLC12 Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery (7.2V, 1200mAh) as a backup for my Leica Q. Works flawlessly and entirely likely that the two are identical except for the branding printed on item (the two companies have a close relationship with one another). Lasts equally as long as its Leica-branded counterpart, fits perfectly in the Leica charging unit and seems to have no downsides. And for the price compared to Leica's own model, it's a no-brainer.

Great light and you can use the rechargeable battery pack.

This charger can charge up to eight rechargeable batteries. It can also discharge them first, if you want, but I don't think that's at all necessary with NiMH batteries. A small display panel below each battery shows the discharge/charge state of the battery in that slot.

This was exactly what I was looking for. The battery pack is rechargeable and fits in the flashlight. very easy to use.

I am very please on this Watson NP-E3 NiMH Battery Pack so far. It't holding up compare to the Higher mAh models I tried in the past also the price was excellent too.

I have had this light for a few weeks at this point and so far I love it. I got the rechargeable battery pack with it and the battery pack lightens the light up significantly. Battery lasts a long time and the light is BRIGHT! Haven’t had to use it in the weather yet but so far I am super happy with this light.
