This mic boom is designed to be used to mic an acoustic guitar (or such) while the main, top mic is used for vocals. I use it to hold a pre-amp for my upright bass. The pre-amp has a mic thread on the bottom and this allows me easy access to adjust my volume and tone. It can be clipped either to a mic stand or to a music stand. Very impressive little product. You can't beat these for the price. I have used these to record acoustic guitar and they record and sound just as good as some mic's I've used costing two to three times more.
