One of the best (some would say the best...) microphone in the business, particularly for vocals and lower sound level instruments (acoustic guitar, flute, etc...). Extremely sensitive, very low noise. Picks up the tiniest detail. The switchable polar pattern, integrated low cut filter and 10 dB attenuation pad means you can use them for anything in any situation, couple of switches and you are done. Just did a simultaneous recording with my Schoeps on a flute and these sounded even better, if that was at all possible. More velvet and refinment in the mid tones. You could immediately tell why they are unsurpassed on voice. If you can afford it and don't mind how large they are, this is the quintessential studio mic you need in your arsenal. 5 |

In my project studio I record various acoustic instruments such as guitar, upright bass and violin. I also record vocals and various hand percussion. I have traditionally used small condensers such as Neumann KM 184's and AKG C451-B's but was craving the sound that only a large diaphragm can deliver. I love AKG products especially those built in Vienna. So far have only used the 214 on vocals, acoustic guitar and middle eastern percussion and it more than met my expectations. I love the AKG sound. To me AKG's are not as transparent as Neumann BUT that is what I dig about it..it brings a bit of color and an openness. At the price point..this is a must have mic..you can never go wrong with AKG 5 |

Used on acoustic guitar setup in a gig and it worked as advertised. Didn't lose any sound changes through my amp. Love it. 5 |

I used the Fat Head to record my latest composition, a Jazz acoustic guitar duet. The sound was very warm, like you would expect from vintage equipment. I have not found anything not to like about this microphone yet. 5 |

I am using this for recording violin, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and piano, and all sound great. I already own the mk4 and love it, but wanted something a little more directional that can reject some of the room noise, since I am not recording in a totally isolated environment. The mk41 sounds just as good as the mk4 and definitely cuts down on any background noise. Only downside is that I have less leeway to move around when recording, whereas with the mk4, which has a wider capture, it's a little more forgiving. But I got the mk41 specifically for this purpose to just focus on what's directly in front of it, and it's doing the job even better than expected without any loss of quality or musicality in the tone. Love it! And plus one for B+H's amazing customer service. They were extremely helpful. 5 |
