Adam A7X Active Studio Monitor Pair

I was first introduced to Adam monitors at my previous production position by the head audio engineer. I knew when it came time to upgrade my home studio, Adam monitors were at the top of my short list. I debated on whether getting the Adam A5X models with a subwoofer or just a pair of the A7X. Because my home studio is small with untreated walls I opted in favor of a pair of A7X and no subwoofer. Absolutely no regrets. These things sound so amazing! Plenty of low end. This is one of the single best investments I've ever made for editing HD video. How good are they? My old monitors will soon be listed for sale. 5 |

I had some experience with the earlier generation Adam A7. The new A7X model features some very nice improvements. Where the old A7 seemed to be a little subdued in the 40hz range, the A7X goes down to 40 without difficulty and shows signs of audio as low as 28-30hz. It is hard to beat the ribbon tweeters for clarity and stereo imaging. While I do tracking in a pro studio, I purchased a pair of A7Xs for my home setup where I can do editing and basic automation. I am tempted to take these speakers into the pro studio and try some detailed mixing. They are portable and just the right size for me. 5 |

I use MOGAMI cables over my Console, interface and my Adam Audio A7X. Nothing else. 5 |

I brought these home, put on one of my tracks and half way through had to check if my Adam A7x Monitors were on or off, it sounds that good. I actually thought the Adams had to be on in the background. I can see these being my new go to cans. I just shelved my AKG712's 5 |

I bought these for my Adam A7X’s and they fit and sound excellent. Sturdy, dense product - I highly recommend. 5 |

I use these with my Adam A7x speakers and they're the first headphones I've bought where it doesn't sound like I'm listening to a different mix when I put my headphones on. I've got Focal, AKG and another pair of Sennheiser's, but these are the best. 5 |

Fantastic. Output is a pair of Adam Audio T5Vs, and inputs are a balanced DAC and a 3.5 mm connected to my PC monitor. I use this to switch between PC audio and my PS5 (connected to the PC monitor via HDMI). Suited my specific application very well. I appreciate the smoothness of the volume knob, though it is definitely a bit light. The unit itself is robust, it's heavy doesn't move with all the 1/4 jacks on the rear, feels well made. Buttons have a nice feel, takes a decent amount of weight to actuate, and very audible, so it's easy to tell if one has been accidently pressed. Also, I haven't personally been affected by channel imbalance at lower volumes using this controller. 5 |

I needed a monitor controller for my studio for two pairs of speakers and a couple of inputs. As much as some of the functionality of active monitor controllers appeals to me, the sound quality is first and foremost. And we all know that unless you spend $3k - $10k most active systems severely color your sound - a little more than my current budget. I wasn't sure what to expect with this affordable passive controller however, after spending a few weeks with it I can say without a doubt that it is a great addition to my studio. I hear no coloration or change to the stereo sound field. The Mute, Dim, and Mono sum functions are really handy. And the build quality feels good under your hand. My only complaint is that it would be nice if the knob travel was detented for repeatable levels. Two Big Thumbs Up! 5 |

I bought these as a more compact replacement for a pair of ADAM Audio T8V's and I think these are wonderful. I'm a big fan of AMT tweeters, I think these are more defined than other AMT tweeters I've heard before. The 5.25 woofer puts out some impressively solid bass, so much so that I don't feel I need a subwoofer. I use these speakers for listening and monitoring. Also, the industrial design of these speakers (and the desk stands) are really nice. 5 |

I bought a pair during 2014 Holiday season here. I was shopping for good sound speakers for a while and actually listened to Yamaha HS8 in @. After the wonderful holiday discount, Adam is still twice as costly as Yamaha's. But boy, the sound! I'm glad I didn't buy Yamaha earlier. The money is well spent on Adam. I'm not a musician. I simply need active speakers to listen to music, mostly classic and vocal and some pop/jazz/country, basically everything except heavy metal or hiphop. I adjusted the low and high in the back and put them on good stands behind my desk and put my head at the sweet spot per instructions, then the clear and full spectrum sound just keep flowing in straight to my soul. I had B&W DM603 floor standing speakers before. I also have Sennheiser HD600 headphone (which I paid over half a grand a few year back). I feel that Adam is the most clear sound in both high and mid, for both instrument and human voices. Adam's low easily beats both. Front base port probably helps a bit here. It's not just the quantity, it's more about the quality of the base - very clean zero distortion base that simply surrounds me all over when listening to well recorded music. People say studio monitors are flat so may not be suitable for normal music listening. Well, comparing to B&W, I like this pair better. I never feel they add to or take away anything from the music. In fact, I start to notice some music details that I didn't know existed before. I like Yamaha HS8 too, especially its warmer rendition of human voices. But overall Adam's clarity/cleanliness throughout the sound range easily set itself apart.5 stars indeed. 5 |
