Added Wireless Router Unable To Find Nas Storage

It's a must have upgrade router in keeping you in the forefront of wireless power that Synology does so well especially for their well know NAS.

My first NAS was a Synology DS918+ purchased from B&H about four years ago. I added a Synology DX-517 expansion unit two years ago, also purchased from B&H. This combination served me well for my large Plex library and for general files sharing. My only regret was the two 1G network connections for the DS918+. I tried 2.5G via USB on the DS918+ and it doubled my file transfer speeds, but I wanted more. I wanted 10G and the drive capacity in one NAS to provide 10G throughput. This brought me to the DS-1821+ I just got from B&H. To max out this new unit's capabilities, I added a two port 10G card (Mellanox ConnectX-3 Pro), two 2TB NVME drives (Samsung 970 EVO Plus), two 2TB SSDs (Crucial MX500), six 14TB drives (Seagate EXOS X14), 32 GB of ECC RAM (Samsung) and I added another sine wave UPS (Cyberpower) for power protection. I found a means through Reddit (Synology) to use the NVME drives for storage rather than just cache, so one remains read cache, while the other became a storage drive. I set the two SSDs in RAID 0, so now I can fully use the 10G from the NVME, the SSD pair or the six spinning drives. Can pigs fly? I don't know for sure, but I am getting the performance I was after with this freshly configured DS1821+. The DS-918+ and DX-517 are now my primary backup for the DS1821+. I have several external WD drives of varying capacities that are used to provide backup for both NAS units. These are rotated off-site to minimize potential data loss. I thank Synology and B&H for providing dependable storage that meets or exceeds my expectations.

Added to NAS - no issues.

I bought this to upgrade from an old Synology ds214SE and add more storage for a large photo and music collection. I have two 8 TB HDD and added two 12 TB Synology HDDs. Plus, I added a 4GB Synology memory module. It was super easy to set up. I was able to just install my old drives and have it running, but it took time to add the two new drives and then convert everything to the newer btrfs format. This is a huge improvement over my old NAS. Unlike many comparable units, it does not do transcoding, though I don't need it because I am not using it as a Plex server. It is working flawlessly for my purposes. I really like the ease and security of the Synology NAS.

Excellent hard drive this far! Added to my Synology NAS and so far no issues! Synology recognized the drive as a Seagate ItonWolf drive and surprised me when it actually showed a wolf logo next to the drive. The 12TB storage is excellent as well! Actual storage, especially with 1 drive failure redundancy in my NAS was less than 12TB but nothing too dramatic. Overall, I’m happy!

I love my backpack and was unable to find any I didn't like about it yet.

The holders store well in my camera bag with the added versatility of end to end or back to back storage...no more rummaging around to find the 2nd battery.

I added this one to my Synology NAS. It already had 4 that have been working perfectly for several years.

The Synology RT2600AC was well reviewed on SmallNetBuilder. Already having a positive experience with Synology NAS I decided to give this relative newcomer to routers a chance to replace a failing ASUS RT-N66U. The Synology router has been running for two weeks with 24 clients, mostly Internet access and some HD (but not 4K) streaming. Positives: - Wi-fi range and throughput are beyond satisfactory. Router is on lower level in one corner of house. Two stories above on the opposite corner the signal strength and throughput is excellent, despite having to travel through multiple walls, HVAC system, plumbing and a dozen electrical circuits. - 2.4-to-5Ghz switching has been seamless. Router does a good job transferring connections to the optimal band. - Even with the Intrusion Detection turned on, there are no network performance issues (as others have reported). - If you are familiar with Synology DSM for their NAS line, the router SRM is easy to navigate, update and install packages. - Good visual reporting. Easy to determine which clients and what software is consuming most/least bandwidth. - Router software and settings are security focused. Accounts disabled by default. Easy to lock down individual clients. Good logging. Includes a basic Intrusion Detection service (which takes the place of a separate hardware/service typically needed). Easy to setup alerts. Synology appears to be taking patching seriously, with a set of updates each of the past few months. Built-in security check to advise of settings that are not optimal for security. - While not the least expensive wireless router out there, the value is solid for the performance and feature set. Cons: - Need USB thumb drive for logging; maximum 2GB of logs. - SRM is still maturing. The GUI is inconsistent, sometimes allowing sorting or editing, other time not-- for the same fields. Takes a longer time to restart than other systems. Nothing bug, but a few edges do need polishing.

Used for a NAS storage array, which seems to be the intended use. Have several of them, and no trouble so far.
