Affordable Studio Monitors Untreated Room

First off, I am not an audio professional but did my undergrad in recording technology so I have a good amount of experience listening to excellent monitors in well-treated rooms. Previous near-field monitors owned include JBL-4326p, Dynaudio BM5A MkII and JBL LSR-305, with the application mainly being audio for video, casual listening and some audio mixing. Being that I am currently set up in an untreated office (something I hope to change soon) I was apprehensive about trying a 2.1 setup since I know a sub can create all kinds of issues in an untreated environment; however this set still performs very well and absolutely is an improvement over my previous monitors in terms of imaging, dynamics and transient response. At first I was a bit put off by the sound of the A5Xs: they came across a bit sterile and lacking any emotion (they are tools first and foremost, after all). This was a bummer since I hoped to do some casual listening on them, but after giving my ears some time to acclimate I am enjoying them much more now, particularly in the high frequencies... very very detailed without the usual fatigue associated with this level of detail. They really provide a crystal clear cutout of each musical element in play, allowing me to hear deep into the mix. The Sub8 sounded pretty disjointed to me at first, but once I dialed in a decent placement and figured out it needed the phase inverted in my case it blends seamlessly with the A5X (with the crossover and monitor high-pass both set at 85Hz). Overall I am very happy with this set and would gladly recommend it. Can't wait to hear what is possible with some room treatment!

If you want to mix in an untreated room, this is the way to go. Even just listening music is a total experience with these, you can hear multiple levels and where they are supposed to be, real nice. For the price they are worth it over treating a room, especially if you are modular with your studio.

I bought this for my podcast recording needs. It sounds amazing with an untreated room, absolutely no ambient noise. It's probably. more than what you need, but you won't be disappointed at all. if you get it.

I bought this for my podcasting setup in an untreated room. The cloudlifter helps to make the microphone sound louder with a lower noise floor. The boom arm does the job. I bought this with the Rodecaster Pro and Kopul 5000 XLR cables. The combination is a small, quiet setup with a lot of versatility for a beginner. The Rodecaster Pro adds enough gain in conjunction with the cloudlifter to make the mic sound clean and quiet with the noise gate. The Shure SM7B is flattering and most importantly it is quiet for an untreated room. Using the proximity effect and the noise gate option on the Rodecaster Pro, the untreated room is a complete non-issue. When I say untreated room, I mean hardwood, no furniture and nothing on the walls. Literally bare studio. You can't even tell with this setup. The mic looks good, high build quality and comes with multiple windscreens. Overall, the versatility of this setup is the perfect beginner setup for a low profile and portable podcast. I went back and forth between the Shure SM7B and the EV-RE20. I don't think there is a wrong choice between the two, but for me, the SM7B sounded slightly better in my test for an untreated setup with my voice due to the use of proximity effect and the mic being quieter. Overall, happy with the purchase, and I highly recommend the Rodecaster Pro with the SM7B.

Purchased two JBL 305P MKII studio monitors for a computer room studio, driven by external DAC and Amplifier with HI-RES flac wav source music files. I am really enjoying the outstanding high fidelity sound.

I absolutely love my new stands. I was placing my monitors on my studio table. I need more room and wanted my home studio to feel more “official”. Immediately noticed a difference in the sound that was coming out of my speakers. Definitely an improvement!!! Easy to set up!! Definitely a must have!!

I've not had them for a really long time, but I bought these because the room my little studio is in doesn't do well with monitors. They're incredibly lightweight and the sound is fantastic. Nothing is exaggerated and since these are my first pair of open back headphones I'm really impressed with the way they perform without being fatiguing, even after several hours of wear. I must echo the sentiment that the cups are slightly on the small side, but the fit is still superb and I'd absolutely recommend these as an excellent introduction to how good headphones can actually be.

I moved my studio monitors, Adam ANF10s, to my listening room. Therefore, I needed to replace them in my studio. I auditioned several different monitors. KRK, Yamaha, etc. Before purchasing, I listened to the Adam T5V. These monitors had the familiar Adam sound that I was used to. Their clarity was second to none and put the other monitors I auditioned in the back seat. I cannot recommend the Adam T5V monitors enough. Definitely a great monitor choice.
