Airport Extreme Mesh Setup Without Ethernet Cable

Replaced Apple AirPort Extreme and Express with this tri-band mesh system, and drastically improved our performance. After doing much research, this was the best price and best reviewed for what we were looking for: Tri-Band with the dedicated back haul, Wifi 6 capability, etc. Have a 4 bedroom 1870s farmhouse with outdoor spaces that needed the range and couldn't be happier.

For less money than the Airport Extreme you get total reliability, seamless handoffs when you mesh more than one (Airport Extremes tend to not hand off users when you move into the range of a different access point so you get a very weak signal in spite of the fact that you are standing right next to a different access point) and a much more comprehensive management console. Also, they are definitely more powerful with better reach.

I purchased this as a replacement for my first generation Apple AirPort Extreme that had a failing fan. I did not need wireless in a router because my current home setup already has an independent solution. My only concern was speed. I have several test routers and none of them could deliver the maximum bandwidth that my ISP provides. After running the extremely easy setup it was obvious that speed was not an issue with this router. Even with traffic analysis enabled there is no speed, ram, or cpu issues. Best router for the money on the market.

Setting up an airport extreme in a good area of the office where we get maximum coverage requires moving it away from the printing room. This was impossible because maximum printer cable length is about 12 feet. Then a nice B&H salesman informed me that there was an extension cable with a booster which allowed me to move the wireless base station to an excellent location so all computers get the signal. This is only one big benefit having B&H a few blocks from my house.

Awesome mesh setup was easy with powerful web interface and app. I use an ethernet backhaul and the wifi speed and coverage are awesome. Plugged in my USB 3 portable drive and have easy fast shared media and network storage.

Not much to say about an ethernet cable, except that it works.

Gigabit connection at an extremely low price. Using it with my Airport extreme and works flawlessly.

It definitely increased the Wi-Fi speed over my previous Unify setup, pretty much double it. I can get on an iPhone Internet speeds of 500Mb/sec if close by and 200-300Mb at a greater distance. There is no 2G/5G separate connections, the router is smart enough to figure out which connection is the best. The installation was easy after I've figured out how it works. First and foremost, DO NOT attach an ethernet cable. It'll stop the setup. Bring the AP relatively close to the main router, run the phone app to set it up. It takes a rather long time (~3 to 5min) to do all its setup. After the setup is done, you can move it to another location and connect an ethernet cable. It'll figure out by itself that the cable is plugged-in. Highly recommended product.

Purchased to connect a Wii to a cable router through an Ethernet cable to watch streaming Netflix. The setup was easy, just plugged-in the adapter, connected the cable, went into the Wii setup and told it to update, inserted the Netflix disk and I was done.
