Perfect AKG studio headphones

Basically since AKG released this same version as the “Mark II” , the way I see it, you are getting a very high end, professional studio grade headphone for a fraction of what they used to charge!! I also own the updated version of these K 240’s and I can assure you, for the money, these original 240 AKG’s are an unreal value !! You will not be disappointed! Very true audio reproduction and super solid and professional build quality. The ONLY reason I would not recommend these is for use as a headphone for a drummer. These are semi-open design, so you do get some ambient room noise bleed-through. Long story short, incredibly accurate audio that does not color the sound so what you hear is basically what the end result will be. Pick up a couple at these prices!

Though I still have a pair of the old school Austrian AKG K-240 headphones I bought around 1985 that I still love the sound on, I wanted a pair with 55ohm resistance and a 3.5mm mini plug that I could use on my portable equipment. Out of the box, there seems to be a lot more bass (although maybe that is the result of the lower resistance?) The new ones sound very good, but not quite as clear in the midrange. I will have to burn these in for a few hundred hours as some people recommend then do another compare. But unless you flip back and forth, they both sound excellent.

For long editing sessions the AKG K 240 can't be beat. The most comfortable high quality headphones I've ever used (and I've been using headphones for almost 40 years). Price was so good I bought two.

My first encounter with AKG 240 headphones was working in magnetic tape manufacturing years ago. I used them for switch listening from master to copy. They helped tune the magnetic formula in developing good tone quality with little use of bias adjustments. They were just a good, basic headphone. I still love 'em. They make music sing.

If your needs are anything less than a professional recording studio, these are the headphones for you.

This is a superbly engineered product. Holds a pair of AKG professional headphones, which have a wide head band, perfectly. Clamps tightly to a tabletop. May purchase another one as well. Highly recommended.

At this price point, and after having owned 5 studio headphones over a few decades, AKG K240 MKII, K553 MKII, Sony MDR-7506, KOSS PRO 4AA & 4AAA, I have found THE Referred Personal Listening Tool.

These headphones are exactly what I was looking for when I purchased them almost 30 days ago. Basically I like everything about them: The sound is perfect for what I do in the studio, that is a sound and video editing very clear and transparent with a lot of detail. I think these are the best headphones I have ever owned. The AKG K812 headphones are very comfortable, well/solid built, and easy to adjust while on your head. I also like very much a stand that comes with these headphones. I purchase the headphones with the AKG HP4E 4-Channel Headphone Amplifier - all works great!

Comparing this to AKG K240 Studio monitoring headphones it is not as good. But it's very close. This was the only headphone I could find with a removable cable at this price point. Sound quality is very good but not excellent. This may be that I haven't broken the headphones in yet, but the sound stage is stiff and the treble with percussion is a bit muddled without good separation like on the AKG. These headphones have more emphasis on the low-end than the AKG 240's though. Comfort-wise these headphones fit better than AKG from the get-go -- it took awhile for the AKG's to loosen and stop squeezing my glasses to my head. However, I wish the pads were slightly bigger or oval shaped to fit the ears more comfortably. The padding is very soft. Another reviewer noted that the Polsen's 32ohm drivers cannot be driven by an iPad, but this is not the case. I had no issues when testing with normal volumes on an iPad Mini 2. The AKG K240's are 55 ohms in comparison and are decidedly quieter. A good purchase for good quality monitoring.
