Alex Game Control

I bought this stand on the recommendation of Alex Campagna in his DIY Spiderlight Softbox blog. I built his DIY softbox and bought this stand to support it. And it does it very well. This is one impressive stand, especially for the money.

I won this bag at the Alex Buono Roadshow this past summer. We've been using in a variety of situations. It's great for those little easy to lose items that are crucial on set. We've thrown cameras in there as well as the Ronin M. Nice!

I have been using the SMX-30 for months and have not experienced the background noise issue that Alex described. As a matter of fact, the SMX-30 is a very quiet mic that I have never noticed any noise. Probably Alex's experience has something to do with the fact that Panasonic HMC150 is not equipped with a 3.5mm mic input jack. When you have to use a 3.5mm-to-XLR adapter cable, especially involving a stereo to mono conversion, many things can happen. I think what Alex is experiencing is more of an adapter cable issue than a mic issue.

I have been using Elgato products since the Game Capture HD with a 2009 iMac. I used to light up my elgato green screen with a cheap USB powered LED work light set on the floor. It managed for the most part, but far from an ideal solution. The jump to the Key Light was like night and day, literally. Having full control over colour temperature and brightness made my lighting look instantly professional. Being able to control every option via the iOS app over WiFi meant the Key Light became the main source of lighting in my tiny apartment, and still is.

I recently bought one of these to bring my work to the next level and I'm quite impressed. Having full control of my audio is a game changer. The mics pick up range is really impressive compared to the VideoPro mic I have been using. Highly recommend this addition to your tool belt.

The installation is very easy to do, the navigation with the remote control is great. Game stream is working like a dream, and Netflix is also working great. I really love this device.
