I've owned this type of accessory ac adapter from Nikon before and And I highly recommend it for any new camera purchase if you think you're going to do a lot of indoor photographing time or will be near a wall outlet. Backward compatibility is important when you have been in this game for long (my first Mac bought in 1993). This adapter made it possible to daisy-chain an old LaCie Firewire 400 drive containing old photos through first a Firewire to Thunderbolt 2 adaptor and then the current Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter.
