Amd R9 290 4Gb Video Card

I am an AMD fan and this budget card works great! Love it!

I upgraded from a 1050 Ti with 4gb VRAM to this card and have seen a big improvement in performance in Adobe Lightroom for things like Select Sky and Select Subject. I also see a good performance increase for Photoshop Generative Expand and Fill. The install was very easy but I had to dig up a power cable for this card from my power supply box since my old card didn't require separate power.

I shot my daughters best-friend's wedding and I only had two 4GB Compact flash cards. I figured that I would buy a 32GB CF card because I shoot in RAW and I knew that my 4GB cards would fill up quickly. I began looking for a 32GB CF card and each one I found was around $100. I needed two and I didin't have $200 for two cards so I began looking at the SD cards. I like the price of the cards but there was one problem, I have a Canon 50D which only takes a CF (Compact Flash) card. I began to look for an adapter for the SD cards and I found one. So I purchased two 32GB SD cards and 2 CF adapters for the price of one 32GB CF card. I shot the wedding with the SD cards and CF adapters and I must say, it worked out great. So far, I have not had any problems.

There was only 3 x 4GB memory on my MacPro 2013 and I recently found it difficult to upgrade because no more relevant card could be found in the local market of my home town, unless I found this in B&H. Great!

Can't write a lengthy review for something so basic as a 4GB micro SD but I can say that it works fine and it does what I need it to do. Instead of filling a 16, 32, 64 or 128 GB card with a mix of things, I am going to use several smaller ones like this. They're inexpensive and if one fails I don't risk losing a lot of stored data that I should put in the cloud, anyway. This appears to be a genuine card, not a fake. The high-capacity cards are more likely to be forgeries than these small ones. (Not likely someone would make counterfeit $5s. They counterfeit $100s, right?).

Light, strong, affordable and very adaptable. I also own a standard 290 tripod that I love. I wanted another so that I didn't need to change heads from my video head to my ball head for stills. I find that this version is more adaptable as it features more settings for leg spread and will adapt better to still photography with my ball head. My other 290 is now the dedicated to video use.

I bought this as an additional tripod for still work as I have a 290 with a video head on it. I put my Manfrotto XPRO MAg Ball Head on it and use with my 5D MKIV. Works great with my EF24-70 and up to my EF 100-400. This tripod has more locking positions that the original 290 with 4, and a weight capacity of 11 lbs. For the price it is hard to beat. Lightweight, strong and comes with a carry bag.
