I use the mic for acoustic guitar, amplified instruments, lead and back up vocals. It captures them all with ease. It plugs right in and is ready to go. I'm not very experianced but even the first time I used it, in combination with a freeware recording program, I yielded desirable results. I would recomend this mic for any home studio on a budget

It says it goes to 60 miles and it really does, I did a mileages check and we are 58 miles away from a broadcast station and we get over 72 different FREE channels, nice and clear and no cable bill. Wow totally awesome . We had tried numerous kinds of indoor antennas that only had weak reception. But this antenna really shocked us, now we are able to pick up channels we never knew were available. It is a beautiful modern fabric covered antenna, so sleek. I use this to control audio volumes out from my computer with knobs not software , control amplified speakers and a separate headset control , i could easily add instruments or micro phone to my computer recordings , its pure analog so no USB , sounds really great better than straight computer to speakers i think , a little preamp is inside and it helps , but keep in mind its a mackie mixer and who does a better job of mixer design ? not many if any , its a little tank i needed a little interface and this is over the top nice for me
