I've been building and maintaining my home computers, laptops for the past two decades and little did i know when I got my first MacBook Pro Retina 15. As soon as I received it I realized that fixing anything HW related on that machine was slightly beyond the DIY electronics enthusiast capabilities. My suspicions were reaffirmed right away when I encountered LCD image retention issue and I had Apple store replace entire flip on my 2 months old MacBook. I started shopping for the AppleCare Protection Plan right away and learned pretty quickly that it's a much more cost effective option to buy it outside of the Apple store. B&H Photo Video came to the rescue. Not only they offered free shipment/tax option, but the product equates in its quality and reliability anything that you would get straight from Apple, i.e. sealed retail box, instructions etc. Activating the plan was a breeze and now I have a peace of mind for another 2.5 years. What more can I say?! The facts are all there. When it comes to the ultimate video editing computers Apple is the go to configuration. Whether your using FCP or AVID you want a Mac Pro pushing your software making your system fast and reliable. I picked this computer because it was the middle of the road. Everything I need in power right now with a little room to grow into the future. I upgraded to 12GB of RAM and my machine is purring. I've been an Apple user for the past 7 years and had Apple Care on every computer. Because Apple has a few quirks with their computers (faulty disc drives, fragile power cables) it's always well worth it. On one laptop I had to replace the power cable 4 times, and the Apple Care paid for itself with those replacements. If you live near an Apple Store this is a no brainer. 5 |

This drive only works on newer Apple Computers. I had to purchase another DVD/CDW drive to work on my old iMac G-5 to replace the worn out drive built in the computer; I was lucky that B&H had that drive and it works fine. I had no problems with the Apple USB SuperDrive on my new computer and will keep when I replace the newer computer (7 years old now) as the new iMacs do not have a built in drive. 5 |
