Android Music Player

I use these for my Android tablets, Raspberry Pi, and music player. The large capacity and fast speeds make a big difference. I was using older and slower microSD cards for my Pi but when I used this one, boot time and performance increased noticeably. SanDisk storage has never disappointed me, whether used for computers or photo equipment.

The shield is a very well working android player, this is my second one. add a Micro sd card for added storage. you can find less expensive players but you end up replacing them every year due to functionality issues.

First thing first. I love this little player that came to replace my trusty but aging Onkyo DP-S1. The hardware is good. I like the decision to use Android as an OS; that adds a lot of flexibility to what you can do with the player. I won't list all the great features and rather concentrate on the shortcomings. Because of the OS, it takes some time for the player to start. Like an aged Android phone, which attests to the speed of the CPU. Once started, it's all good. Starting/stopping, especially stopping track can be laggy. Battery life is on the shorter side. I would say 3-4 hours, although I never really timed it. Some decisions on playlist creation and track shuffling are questionable, but it's a matter of taste and habit. The biggest deal for many is that, unlike the international/Japanese version, the US version of the player has a gain limiter. For that matter, I've ordered a Japanese version for almost the same price. Overall, this player is well worth the price. I am not so sure that would be the case with its older cousin.

This is my second NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Pro and I wouldn't buy anything else. I not only use it as a streamer but as a video player for my large library of movies and TV shows hooked up via USB hard drive.

As a network media player this one is a best on the market. 4k@60Hz, can passthrough every audio format to AVR, can passthrough HDR10 and Dolby Vision, can play virtually everything. It is also fast, and it has a gigabit Ethernet which is needed if your are going to play all that stuff. Also this is Android, but much better than other Android TV with its advanced configuration options and the ability to mount a network share system wide. There are probably specialized network players on the market and some even can give the similar capabilities, but these will cost way more.
