Having a power supply with your camera is a necessity in long interviews, but having one that is very light, small, and able to be tucked in your camera bag so that it is with you at all times is a major plus. This one won't be tripped over, nor will you forget to flip it back to charge like stand-alone Anton - Bauer chargers that most people use as a power supply, instead of buying a separate unit. BUT - the Tandem 70 is also a charger. Every time you turn off your camera with an Anton Bauer gold mount battery attached - it automatically switches to charging the battery. I know it works well with my Hytron 140's - but I have not tried nor read the specs to see if it also charges Dionics... The bottom line - don't be a fool - pick one up now. We are all short handed on crews these days, and instead of - I don't need to bring a power supply because this interview will be short, and my power supply is just too bulky - it is always with you when you need it. Mine is always in the side pouch of my Porta Brace bag, goes on the plane with me... And actually reduces the number of bricks I have to take with me when I travel, for down time during interviews is charge time for my Hytrons... 5 |

I'm not a power user (excuse the pun) but this bargain of a power supply is working well for me. I like that I can use this to charge USB devices, see in the dark, signal for help, power my telescope and jump start my car if I need it. I've read that you can power a NexStar SE telescope mount for about 7 hours with this thing. I don't know about that since I haven't done an all night star gazing, but I'm sure it's plenty of power for what I enjoy doing. The directions said to charge it overnight before the first use but it was already fully charged. I also read not to overcharge it so I just started using it. So far, so good. 5 |
