You need this, a new drive and disk cloning software (usually free) if you are upgrading your computer HDD and or SDD.

I've used this drive for 2 weeks so I can only comment on the performance characteristics. I run my disk on an apple, Mac mini pro m2 system which does not support the usb 3.2 2x2 spec, but I have consistently obtained a measured speed of 1000 mb/s using the Black Magic Speed app which met my expectation (1/2 the claim of Samsung). The disk seems to run very cool even after transferring 1.5 Tb of data over 30 min without any noticeable heating. I bought the disk at a very good price from B&H I will update this review if any problems arise but I currently recommend this SSD as a value added choice for anyone with 4TB drive requirements.

The necessary thing to replace the hard drive on your Mac 2011. You are unlikely to buy a brand Apple disk with a built-in thermal sensor, and this kit will allow you to connect any other hard drive. Good luck!

At first I bought a cheaper drive that started with R because disk players have been around for a long time and I didn’t see a reason to pay more just for a fancy housing that match my Mac. However….the no name brand would always stall without ripping any songs to Apple Music. I tried it on 3 different Macs. A Mac Studio M1, MacBook Pro M2 and an older MacBook Pro with an Intel chip in it. Nope wouldn’t work on any of them. So I tried it on a Windows machine with iTunes installed and it worked with no issues. Thinking it was a bug in the Apple software I called Apple and got them involved. I spend weeks with them and sent many data files to their engineers and I still haven’t received a solution from Apple. So I found this Apple SuperDrive at B&H and figured I’d give it a try, well guess what? It works perfectly with any hiccups. I’m not sure if Apple is still making this drive so if you can still get one do it soon.

I use it for a 1 gb 2.5 ssd data disk and a 3 tb 3.5 back up drive. Works great, much faster than the usb 3 set up I previously had with my MacPro. It stays connected and and senses when the computer powers up then to powers both the drives. It automatically powers down when you turn off the computer. A Very good purchase.

This drive solved our problem of not having enough disk space for the Lightroom catalog and all photos on the computer. This allows us to move the drive between laptop and desktop, keeping all the files together.

We had this computer now for a few weeks and still getting used to it. The SD-drive makes it nice and fast. I have added a hard disk for extra space in the meantime. Looking forward to adding my photo collection and my kids to setting up minecraft etc. We have used apple in the longest time and are very disappointed with our last choice that has very little RAM, is therefore extra slow and has no option whatsoever on upgrading. So this computer gives us all those options and we can add and upgrade to our likings.

I had a 6-year-old desktop with a regular (legacy) hard disk drive. The desktop was painfully slow when doing anything. After installing the SSD, the desktop instantly sprang to life. It's like a brand-new computer. If anyone has a slow computer, and it has a legacy hard disk, pop an SSD in and you will be amazed by the performance difference.

I selected this drive as the 16TB seemed less reliable in tests and is barely cheaper. Moreover, I wanted the ability to replace on failure. That is where the 5 year warranty comes in. Some third party vendors resell OEM drives that lack this warranty or US origin sales. My experience is that of they fail it is the first 3 months. Once you pass that hurdle, you are typically fine. Please ensure you back up your files. One word of caution, duplicating a smaller drive and enlarging the image size may bump you into partition size limitations in Windows, resulting in unused disk space. That is fixible with third party software, but cumbersome and introduces the risk of data corruption. Instead format this disk and copy the content. I have multiple brands of harddisk drives, but have been moving back to Seagate as a result of publishred rialibility results. So far 62TB of Seagate storage without problems.

Almost all Raid arrays are limited to multiples of the capacity of the smallest disk drive in the group. This was an economical way to get my array up to 4T disks to eliminate that semi-hidden (if you fail to read the fine print) reduction in overall, array capacity. The second limit on RAID arrays is the cache size/speed. With 3 of these 4T disks I was able to switch out my older 2T 64MB cache drives for a new cache size of 256MB which means a bigger chunk of data can be written to the drive significantly increasing in effective disk/array speed.
