At my home office, almost 200ft from my house, computers connect to the Cable Modem via Ethernet, but I had to move the Modem & Wi-Fi Router to the house because so many things use Wi-Fi that signal had simply become un-reliable. So, I ran 2 of these cables in 1" PVC Conduit, Below Ground, back to my Office with a Water Proof junction box in the middle for In-Line Couplers. I worried about the distance but for nothing, my upload / download speeds are still blazing fast.

The integration with Apple Music works really well, however, sometimes the music stops in app as the iPhone automatically disconnects from wi-fi to cellular for better connection (I have unlimited cellular plan so wi-fi is not always needed).

I was finally ready to make the jump to Wi-Fi 6. My previous router, an Apple Airport Extreme, didn’t reach to the farthest points of the house and I believed there was the prospect of even better speeds. Right out of the box, I flashed Merlin firmware on the device. It most definitely is reaching some areas of the house that were inaccessible before. However, most of my devices cannot take advantage of Wi-Fi 6. I don’t have many options for placement, and that seems to be the number one factor in getting better coverage throughout my home. I also set up a VPN at the router, so every device can benefit. It’s been rock, solid stable and was a good, but not great, purchase at full retail. If you’re planning to make the jump to Wi-Fi 6, temper your expectations. If and when these do inevitably fall in price, go for it. Asus routers are the best on the market, now that Apple has disappeared.
