Apple Lightning Sd Reader Cable

I also ordered Apple Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader, which allows me to put an SD card from point and shoot Canon, Kodak, and Panasonic cameras in so I can import photos easily onto my iPad. Apple Lightning to USB 3.0 Type-A Camera Adapter allows me to add small Thumbdrives / Flashdrives to add storage. In truth the Apple Lightning to USB 3.0 Type-A Camera Adapter is currently unnecessary for me, as I just deleted whatever I don't need on the iPad. There is enough native storage for basic Apps, editing, and writing!!

I really like this short lightning cable for attaching a professional video card reader to my MacBook Air.

So, after switching out everything from Win10 to my MacBook Pro, I'm heading out to the field and need a way to get my SD card images into my MBP. Since the MBP does not have an SD card reader, I just knew Apple would have a dongle for this, I mean really (!?). And so they do. No problems with it to date which I expect with Apple products. Just wish they'd have included an SD card reader slot into the machine.

This card reader is 5 Gb/s USB-C  3.2 Gen 1, with the USB-C cable permanently attached and performs as expected. Transferring 9GB of data took about 16 seconds to transfer on a MacBook Air. The speed will vary depending on your card and computer. I have included pictures with this review. I like the convenience of having also the SD and SD Micro SD ports in this device in case I need. On the Micro SD, I'm tired of having to use adapters. This card reader, I just insert the Micro SD as is. And of course, this card reader has a LED indicator. For durability, the entire unit is made of aluminum. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review] .

This reader reads the new, fancy, SD card with 2 rows of contacts. Much better than trying to find the cable and having to plug the camera into the computer to move the photos...

For an SD card reader that trasfers both cards in the same cable it's great! Both will transfer equally fast!

If you don't have an SD card reader, this is a great option to get that won't cost much either. For me, having this extra SD card reader makes downloading twice as fast when I have multiple cards to download. The aluminum housing gives me the safety of knowing it won't break easily if I drop it and the built in usb-c cable means that's one less extra cable to carry. Also, take a look at the picture I took next to a quarter to get a real sense of how small this card reader is. This is a great addition to my kit since I travel often for work. After purchasing the ProGrade brand Dual Slot SD card reader this brand would not connect to my laptop using the usb-c cable. B&H said you most likely have a bad usb-c cable. After trying two PROGRADE card readers neither one of them would connect. After settling on the OWC dual slot SD card reader, I wish I would have made the OWC purchase from the start. OWC has a plug and play device that connects right out of the box. It's tethered usb-c cable tucks into a slot on the base of the unit so you never lose your connecting cable. Nicely engineered product! Plus it's $10.00 less than the PROGRADE brand. The OWC dual slot SD card reader is a solid purchase!
