Apple Macbook Pro 11 2 Ssd Upgrade

I'm using this inside of my mid 2015 MacBook Pro with an NVMe to Apple SSD adapter, and it's working very well. It's very fast, definitely faster than the stock Apple SSD, and with its large capacity and high endurance rating, I expect it to last quite a long time. This is a double sided M2 drive, so the larger version of the NVMe to Apple SSD drive adapter (with its larger PCB) does not fit this drive properly, but the smaller adapter (which is basically just a short connector) fits a MacBook Pro really well. For normal uses outside of a MacBook, this is a standard size double sided M2 drive, so these odd details are probably of no consequence to anyone else, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. I've been very happy with the FireCuda 520 drives in the past, and the 530 is just as nice, and even faster. I can't wait until the 4TB versions become more available and more affordable. Totally happy with this drive! 5 |

Purchased this SSD to install in my 2017 MacBook Pro. Very easy to install. This was actually an upgrade from a 120GB. Work as it should. Very fast. 5 |

I purchased this to make an external boot drive for my 2015 MacBook Pro. This device is probably the fastest way to add external storage to my machine since the Thunderbolt 2 ports are far faster than the USB3 ports. Since this Sabrent Thunderbolt 3 enclosure is self-powered, you can use the Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter in reverse, making full use of the MacBook's Thunderbolt 2 port and getting super fast transfer speeds, making it suitable for use as a boot drive. I don't have any benchmark utilities, but I copied a large VMware image from the internal Apple SSD to an external 2TB FireCuda 530 and saw an Activity Monitor peak write speed of 1.6GB/sec, which is super fast. The case gets a little warm, but that means that it is effectively sinking heat from the M2 drive. I used this to successfully build and test a system upgrade to Mojave, and will continue to use this to occasionally run modern OS versions that I don't want to permanently upgrade to due to software compatibility issues with old apps I still need to run. Right now, it's Velcro'ed to the laptop lid and holds a 1TB drive waiting to test Catalina, so I can see which apps break before deciding if I want to take the plunge. All in all, it's perfect as an external drive for my older MacBook Pro, it's well priced, and extremely well constructed. I'll continue to use it for the rest of the life of this machine, and it'll still be useful if I upgrade to a more modern machine later. 5 |

I can personally attest this works perfectly in both 2015 MacBook Pros (Retina models), also in a 2013 MacBook Air (13”). Amazingly fast, and no heat or power issues at all. (I bought mine on Amazon, back in Jan of 2022.) Prices have dropped dramatically since then, so I’m planning to upgrade soon. This time from B&H. There have been many issues reported with other SSDs in MacBooks, so I did a lot of research. This one uses the least power, so it’s also the coolest running. For all Mac users, I highly recommend getting DriveDx. Hopefully, I’ll get warned this time before my SSD dies. I didn’t realize it then, but everyone should buy double the total amount of SSD they plan to use regularly. Otherwise, there isn’t enough workspace, and constant writing to the same limited area wears it out. An adapter is required for these M.2 SSDs. I recommend the “Sintech NGFF M.2 nVME SSD Adapter Card”. Make sure you get the one for your specific model. 5 |

Apple keeps doing it, for some reason apple products work best on apple products. I bought a few of these for my MacBook Pro, I have no complaints. 5 |
