Apple Macbook Pro 2009 Ssd Upgrade

I have a very old MacBook Pro 17 mid 2009. The SSD was perfect for it. Sped up internet processing, acquiring HD files. Was able to install it myself. Formatted for APFS. Jim, happy customer 5 |

This sled was use to upgrade my Mac Pro 2009 HD to a SSD. Installing the drive to the sled was fast and placement into the Mac was even faster. This is a good product. 5 |

I'm using this inside of my mid 2015 MacBook Pro with an NVMe to Apple SSD adapter, and it's working very well. It's very fast, definitely faster than the stock Apple SSD, and with its large capacity and high endurance rating, I expect it to last quite a long time. This is a double sided M2 drive, so the larger version of the NVMe to Apple SSD drive adapter (with its larger PCB) does not fit this drive properly, but the smaller adapter (which is basically just a short connector) fits a MacBook Pro really well. For normal uses outside of a MacBook, this is a standard size double sided M2 drive, so these odd details are probably of no consequence to anyone else, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. I've been very happy with the FireCuda 520 drives in the past, and the 530 is just as nice, and even faster. I can't wait until the 4TB versions become more available and more affordable. Totally happy with this drive! 5 |

Purchased this SSD to install in my 2017 MacBook Pro. Very easy to install. This was actually an upgrade from a 120GB. Work as it should. Very fast. 5 |

I purchased this to make an external boot drive for my 2015 MacBook Pro. This device is probably the fastest way to add external storage to my machine since the Thunderbolt 2 ports are far faster than the USB3 ports. Since this Sabrent Thunderbolt 3 enclosure is self-powered, you can use the Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter in reverse, making full use of the MacBook's Thunderbolt 2 port and getting super fast transfer speeds, making it suitable for use as a boot drive. I don't have any benchmark utilities, but I copied a large VMware image from the internal Apple SSD to an external 2TB FireCuda 530 and saw an Activity Monitor peak write speed of 1.6GB/sec, which is super fast. The case gets a little warm, but that means that it is effectively sinking heat from the M2 drive. I used this to successfully build and test a system upgrade to Mojave, and will continue to use this to occasionally run modern OS versions that I don't want to permanently upgrade to due to software compatibility issues with old apps I still need to run. Right now, it's Velcro'ed to the laptop lid and holds a 1TB drive waiting to test Catalina, so I can see which apps break before deciding if I want to take the plunge. All in all, it's perfect as an external drive for my older MacBook Pro, it's well priced, and extremely well constructed. I'll continue to use it for the rest of the life of this machine, and it'll still be useful if I upgrade to a more modern machine later. 5 |

I did small upgrade on my 2009 -2010 5,1 and rather than fiddle with snot and hairpins to install an SSD I came across this product . Works perfectly and is pretty much idiotproof. 4 screws and you are done. Slides in better than the OEM Apple sleds in my opinion and the alternate colour does make a difference when you want to see which bay you have the SSD in. Very rigid and well made and at a super cheap price. I found cheaper ones that would need to attach to the OEM sled but not convinced the pins would line up. For a few bucks more you get the quality OWC is known for. I bought two and will be upgrading the second mac pro shortly. If you have an older macpro this is a great idea. 5 |

I bought this adapter to work with my new Samsung SSD for my Mac Pro early 2009, when it comes to Mac I really trust OWC products, and this one so far works great, I had bought another adapter for my SSD and it just wouldn't fit . I also like that this adapter uses the SSD's port directly to doc with the Mac pro's PCIe port. 5 |

This device has allowed me to expand my Mac Book Pro 17 (Mid 2009) with a second SSD drive and have a greater space available at high speed. Great idea! 5 |
