Apple Power Adapter

This adapter simply works like all my other Apple power adapters.

I had originally purchased a more exensive unit from a different brand, that unit failed when the Apple power adapter was plugged into the PD input port within hours of using it. This unit was less expensive, provided a removable cable that was long enough to situate it on the desk in an advantageous spot. Even seems to support 1440p/120Hz over HDMI. Happy with it.

Somewhere along the line, Apple figured out something that many other cable manufacturers haven't learned namely, that cables should be springy, not easily bendable. Cables should NEVER be folded or wrapped tightly with sharp bends. If you want your cables to last, they should be coiled into a circle when you store them, and that's easy to do when the cable is springy. Most of Apple's cables are springy these days, and this power adapter extension is no exception. I bought three of them, and I placed them everywhere I'm likely to plug in a power adapter. In that way, the power adapters don't remain plugged in (consuming current, even when they're not in use), and I just pop the duckhead end of the cable onto whatever power adapter I'm carrying with my device...iPad, iPod, or MacBook Pro. Both the duckhead connector end and the AC plug end have good strain relief. If you take care of this cable, it should last a lifetime.

B&H always has what we need! My new iPhone 11 power adapter (non-Apple) shattered pulling out of the outlet, plunk onto a piece of pottery. Not a drop to the floor! I expect this won't have any problems & charged the phone faster, very pleased. Thank you, B&H!!

Be aware, though, that you need an Apple 12W Power Adapter for the international plugs to attach to as mentioned in an earlier review.

This is the least expensive bidirectional Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter available.  It works well for Thunderbolt devices it supports.  I bought it to use the Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet adapter I already had, worked like a charm, plug and play.  It does not work for bus powered devices, such as bus powered Lacie Rugged hard drives, or Blackmagic design mini recorder.  This adapter doesnt receive power over Thunderbolt, so you cant charge your Mac by connecting the adapter to an external Thunderbolt display or other device that delivers power over Thunderbolt. - from Apple’s product info page.  It does not work as a USB  C to mini display adapter, Apple lists this right on the package. There are less expensive adapters available for that.  I don’t get the negative reviews for a product that explicitly says what it does and reviewers want it to do something it explicitly says it can not.  I’ll admit that the shape of the ports all being the same is not a smart move, a bit of diligence and you won’t choose the wrong adapter.  Hope this helps.

I got this to run an Apple 'superdrive' with a Mac Air M1. The drive consumes more power than can be transmitted by a combo adapter (like the Moshi Symbus Mini 7-in-1 portable USB-C hub I have). This Belkin adapter does the job.

The only product on the market to buy for apple phones etc is the apple power adapter. This is the first time I have had to replace the original one.
