Apple Superdrive Usb

got this to use with my Apple USB Superdrive. the connection is secure and working as expected.

Received my external CD/DVD USB SuperDrive quickly and packaged just fine. Just one usb3 connection and it was alive when disc entered. No messing with third party apps, works great when its Apple to Apple. B&H great to buy from and the price is always on target.

The Apple USB SuperDrive works great. Does not disappoint. Plug and play and very easy to operate.

This USB SuperDrive by Apple burns fast and plays well. Being USB, it's extremely portable. Before you purchase, make sure you're computer is compatible. Compatible with the following computers: MacBook Pro with Retina display MacBook Air iMac (late 2012) and later Mac mini (late 2009) and later Mac Pro (late 2013) This could save you some heartache if you have an older Mac Pro with a bum DVD burner.

I'm delighted with the Apple USB SuperDrive. My newer Mac doesn't have a DVD slot, but the SuperDrive makes it really easy to add. Once added, the drive restores the ability to read or write DVDs again.

I purchased this optical drive to use with a new iMac 5K 27-inch Retina (2017) machine. While there were less expensive third party USB optical drives available for the Mac, I elected to purchase the Apple product to eliminate any possible compatibility issues. The Apple SuperDrive works very quietly with no surprises. There is no clunky tray to load. Simply partially insert a CD or DVD into the slot on the SuperDrive and the drive pulls it the rest of the way into the unit. When you eject the device from the Mac desktop, the SuperDrive gently pushes the CD or DVD out so it can then be easily removed. A dust seal keeps dust from entering the media insertion slot of the drive. Please note that the attached USB cable on the SuperDrive is short: only about a foot long. This is not an issue when using it with the iMac, but your situation may be different.

This drive has surpassed expectations. For just a little more than an Apple Superdrive you get so much more capability. Was using it in less than two minutes of opening the box!

Does exactly what it's supposed to do and does it perfectly. If you want to attach your Apple Superdrive to the newer iMacs, this is what you'll need, use and forget about it.

If you own an iMac or macbook that had an original cd/dvd, then you took the original cd/dvd out to upgrade the hard drive like I did, you will find the hard way that Apple crippled the Apple Superdrive so as not to work on such upgraded machines. Why? Who knows... I made the mistake of thinking the Apple superdrive would work on my upgraded iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011). Nope. So I returned it and bought this LG burner. It's something like $ less than the superdrive and oh by the way, IT WORKS. Now, if you have an iMac or macbook that did NOT come with a dvd/cd built in, the Apple SuperDrive WILL work on your computer. But heck, I'm hear to tell you, why spend the extra $ bucks? Just get this.

It's small, stays out of the way and works great with my iPhone, iPad and Apple SuperDrive. I don't leave those things plugged in so it's really nice not having to reach behind my computer constantly.
