Apple Time Capsule Wireless Router Speed

After suffering from months of lag and buffering from my Apple Time Capsule, I decided it was time to upgrade to the best on the market. Easy to set up, and it's working like a charm. Great product that's worth every penny. 5 |

I purchased the RT2600AC to replace an aging Time Capsule. I still wanted the ability to use Time Machine on two Mac laptops we have in the house. The Synology has that ability ready to turn on with a click. All I had to do was plug in a USB drive and point my two computers to that drive, via the router and away we went. The radios in this router are more powerful than the Time Capsule it replaced. I am now getting a great signal everywhere in my 2 story, 1400 square foot house. The performance of my previous Time Capsule led me to believe that I would have to get a mesh system. Turned out I only needed a more powerful stand-alone router. By the way, the software to manage the router is fantastic. I recommend this router. 5 |

These replace an Apple Airport Time Capsule ($600, replaced once by Apple) which Apple stopped making in 2016. I could not be happier so far. Using one as a router on the landing of my basement stairs and one on the windowsill in my problem room (a converted one-car garage with concrete walls under the new paneling), not only do I suddenly get coverage ALL OVER the house (a first), but it even reaches to an outdoor balcony, the covered porch in back, and a separate building in the yard where I have my pool table--where there was zero signal before. Also, the speeds are suddenly much faster. The worst speeds with the TP-Link are better than the best speeds with the Time Capsule. I didn't even do any experimenting with siting the second unit--I just put it on the windowsill where it was handiest (see pic), and it works fine. My experience did deviate from that of some others in that setup was not straightforward for me--I had to spend a lot of time on the phone with Chris from Spectrum, who was very patient and cheerful. I do live in a very rural area, and have a complicated 1880's house. We did get it running, and I'm still not sure how. But all is well in the end. I haven't even had these set up for one day so far, so I can't speak to reliability. But for performance, I'm very happy. The screen shot shows my speeds out on my front porch, which I use as my office. The porch is behind some real plaster walls with METAL lathe, which usually acts like a perfect RF shield. That is the largest speed number I've ever seen out here by a far shot. BIG KUDOS and thanks to B&H Customer Service--the rep I talked to prior to buying these (I wish I could remember his name) really did a thorough job running down my options, and recommended these along with two other recommendations at different price points. He told me I was going to see big gains in performance, and was he ever right. 5 |

Bought this as a replacement for my slowly dying Apple AirPort Time Capsule. Setup was relatively smooth, and the WD My Cloud is working as good, if not better, than the Time Capsule did. And it has enough space to back up all four of my family's MacBooks. Haven't used any of the other WD features, so I can't comment on that. 5 |

I replaced a 7 year old Apple time capsule with this since it's one of the few routers out there that supports AFP network shares. The Synology firmware/software is really the star of the show. Very simple to set up and use, but lots of options and ability to customize rather esoteric features. 5 |

This is been by far the best router period, and I just dont mean due to the speed. the options & security features this thing has had me shakin my head for 30 minutes at least.. talk about fully customizable, WOW. I did 4 hrs of in-depth research into this router and the most common issue was the AiMesh system. seems many just couldn't get to resolved correctly. I on the other hand along with my son simply plugged it in and did NOT to any firmware updates, got into the settings to configure to our network and my speed just lit up. I have giga blast thru cox, but my older asus router we thought might be holding us back since the modem was received 1 gig downloads, but the router was only allowing 430 Mps and out wireless was a bit worse. Werll I wanted the speed that I was paying for. Granted this is a very pricey router BUT. once connected not only did our speed match that of the modem, but we gained the 6Ghz band. all my son downloaded was 1 small file having to do with windows 11 and that gave us 700Mps wireless thru 5Ghz band and a tad less thru 2.4Ghz band. our range grew by id say 30 feet in all directions with a full 5 bars. man how nice it is to have those speeds. I think people arent sure about their own talents when it comes to AiMesh, I could be very wrong. but at least for us. it was up and running in 15 minutes and we now see 970Mps+ consistently. so all in all it was worth the extra chunk of money.. 5 |

I purchased this as a replacement for my first generation Apple AirPort Extreme that had a failing fan. I did not need wireless in a router because my current home setup already has an independent solution. My only concern was speed. I have several test routers and none of them could deliver the maximum bandwidth that my ISP provides. After running the extremely easy setup it was obvious that speed was not an issue with this router. Even with traffic analysis enabled there is no speed, ram, or cpu issues. Best router for the money on the market. 5 |

Upgraded from 802.11ac router and wireless network was dramatically improved - both speed and reliability. Gigabit FiOS was previously bottle necked by old router but now getting much closer to advertised numbers. No longer having issues with mult computers accessing VPNs and/or simultaneous Zoom calls. Set-up took a few tries but now very reliable. Very happy with upgrade. 5 |
