Apple Wireless Router Setup Pc

Great purchase for an older PC for wireless connection to the new router.

I use these cables to connect my pc with the new wireless AC router and modem. They look solidly built, are thicker than your average Ethernet cables and are somewhat stiffer (perhaps due to the double protection layer). Simply wanted the best cables and I think these are it. Cannot say anything on the speed benchmarks, but I think when we get Google fiber the throughput may come in handy.

I recently had my internet provider to increase my speed (from 150mbps download to 330mbps). It turned out that my old Wi-Fi card that I had on my PC couldn't quite handle the speed even though it was rated that it can. I bought this card out of curiosity just to see if it was the PC that was causing the bottleneck and not the card. Once I installed it, the download transfer rate just about doubled compared to the old card. In fact, the speed is about the same I'm getting if I had the network cable connected directly from the modem to the PC Ethernet port itself. Anyway, I would advise anyone to first check their wireless router or wireless modem/router to see what Wi-Fi standard it uses. If you still using an old modem/router, this card will only go as fast as that set up allows it to.

I operate a home-based PC repair business and have occasion to setup networks for customers in my community. This is a great basic router for many of my senior clients who only have one computer and just need an inexpensive router for wireless access. I also have set it up as a wired hotspot (disabling the DHCP) for customers who have large homes or a shop attached to their house where the primary router doesn't get good wireless coverage in a given area. It doesn't give blazing fast wireless speed, but they do hold up to electrical storms pretty well (we are in the country and power flickers are common with our electrical service). For the price, I think their great.

My first router was the Linksys WRT54GL, a router that will forever live in infamy. It lasted me years and was only replaced due to not being able to keep up with faster Internet speeds now available. I decided to build my own router, running Linux to handle the higher speeds. This went well for a time, but was annoying that it had only 2 network jacks, and it was really overkill for power. I began a search for a lower powered PC, but options were slim. I had an Ubiquiti Access Point and was looking at devices for POE, and came across this. It had all the functionality I was looking for, had more ports, POE and was much lower powered than the Linux PC I had been running. This device has so many features, far beyond any of your typical home router. Combine this with one of there APs and you have an amazing home setup. Although not as easy to setup and configure as your typical home router, this is far superior and has a wizard that helps get it configured based on what you want it to do. If you want a router with all the bells and whistles and not your basic all in one wireless router, then this is likely the one for you.

I purchased this as a replacement for my first generation Apple AirPort Extreme that had a failing fan. I did not need wireless in a router because my current home setup already has an independent solution. My only concern was speed. I have several test routers and none of them could deliver the maximum bandwidth that my ISP provides. After running the extremely easy setup it was obvious that speed was not an issue with this router. Even with traffic analysis enabled there is no speed, ram, or cpu issues. Best router for the money on the market.

Owning a small rancher (1500 sq ft) with a quantity of 802.xx devices (20 or more), a significant amount of electrical magnetic interference, and 75mb up/downstream Fios service, we use Verizon's modem but bypass their (wimpy) wireless router. We had been running an Apple airport extreme and airport express for the several past years, with marginal connectivity at the furthest ends of our home (we run 10 pieces of Sonos gear continuously throughout the house). We tried a newer 802.ac apple router a couple of years ago, but that too, didn't do the job. Apple, having announced it was going out of the router business a month or so ago, led us to other mesh based alternatives (and personal recommendations re: their commercial equipment), turning to Ubiquity for their home product (AmpliFi HD), just released. Along with the router, the bundle we purchased has two mesh extensions which we have plugged in midway and at the end of our rancher (the router being in our office at the other end). The unit, designed to cover 20k feet is, without question, overkill. But when our children, grandkids and sponsored midshipmen come over, we can be looking at an additional dozen 802.xx devices, and when everybody starts streaming, it can be rough riding. Without getting into the weeds, this handles everything thrown at it without a hiccup, delivering 10x the throughput our apple setup delivered (60+ mb/s v. 6mb/s) at the furthest distance from the router. The setup can be configured via your desktop or phone, with the one caveat we encountered requiring you to turn off your controlling device's VPN during configuration. We have yet to set up our guest network, but will do that shortly. In the interim, we went over to our neighbor's house, diagonally across the street, where we got a strong 4 bar signal! (yes, it has several security protocols). The package is not cheap, but if it lasts as long as our last setup, this should be good for many years.

Works great with my MacBook Pro. I don't like the apple mouse so I went with this one, it's a little bigger and is setup like a PC mouse, which I prefer.

Hello Asus. This wireless router is excellent. Easy to setup and works great. This is my 3rd Asus wireless router and when it's time for a new one down the line I will purchase another Asus product.
