Are Olympus Cameras Good

I really like its feature of being able to purchase adaptors for my different Olympus cameras. 5 |

Well, well, well... I love cameras, most of them! My last true workhorse was a Sony A700, and a Pentax K20 before it. So for one reason or another, you may start using an Olympus E-620 like I recently did, or one of those trendier but quite slower Pen and think: Wow, these are very competent, well-made products for their respective price!?. I thought so too, even compared to much pricer DSLRs; that's until I tried (and unavoidably fell in love with) their great leader, by far the sexiest of all digital Superstars: the Olympus E-5! Gorgeous colors, brisk AF as well as shutter responses, large and bright *traditional* pentaprism viewfinder, astonishing robustness, fluid handling, clear LCDs, easy menu operation, better-than-D7000/60D performance up until ISO 1600 (far enough in any case), a very l-o-n-g battery life, and last but not least a privileged access to all of the impressive Zuiko 4/3 beauties, be it the ultra-fast SWD lenses or the Imager-AF, contrast-based lenses!!! So glad I have at last found a real diamond in the rough... 5 |

I use the Vello Canon EF/EF-S mount to use old Canon EF zoom lens on my Olympus Pen micro 4/3 cameras. It serves that purpose well. A caveat, probably already known to most, is that auto-focus lenes will work only in the manual mode. 5 |

I've used these 2000x cards for years in various cameras and never had an issue. Recently purchased the Olympus/OMDS OM-1 and needed a new set of cards for that body. 5 |

I bought this flash not to use with an Olympus camera but to use with two Panasonic cameras that I own, the G1 and GH2. The flash unit works well with both these cameras. Most importantly, the TTL-Auto mode in which the camera controls the flash settings works as advertised. The wireless control mode doesn't work, but that's the fault of the Panasonic cameras, which don't have any built-in support for wireless flash control. 5 |

Many years age I used a series of Olympus lenses on their OM series of cameras. Later in life switched to Nikon Digital cameras. The adapter Nikon F to OM lenses is amazing in the quality achieved with a whole range of these old lenses other than wide angle. Manual operation is so easy and it makes you concentrate more than just clicking away on auto. 5 |

After several years of happily shooting with M43 (mostly Olympus) and APSC (mostly Fujifilm) cameras I've been keeping an eye out for a reasonably priced but modern full frame. So far I'm loving it. The S5 is well made and comfortable. Panasonic's UI has always been a favorite of mine. The 20-60 kit lens is nicer than expected. I picked up a couple of prime lenses for low light/subject separation. The 1.8's are a great match. There are a ton of reviews on the S5 that aren't complentary towards the autofocus. For what I'm looking for - family, pets, travel, cityscape, landscape - I have no complaints. I will probably stick with one of the other systems, at least for a while, to cover the occasional action shooting that I do. We'll see. Anyways, buy it, enjoy it. 5 |
