American Paper Optics Eclipser HD Solar Glasses did me right by protecting my eyes and allowing me to view the 2024 total solar eclipse safely. The glasses are very well made and come with a protective microfiber bag. Ordering them though B&H was a great experience as usual. Since I live in Texas and there will be 2 solar eclipses in the coming year, I decided to get a solar filter. This NISI might be a bit pricey but it is absolutely fantastic. This is made to take pictures of the sun and it works great. I was totally impressed once I got the exposure correct (or at least close). I'll be doing some more test exposures soon. If you are looking for a solar filter, I'd definitely take a close look at this one. 5 |

Wasn't sure I could pull this off for the first of two rare solar eclipses visible in Oklahoma in 2023 and 2024. I used this 95mm filter with a Sigma 150-600 mm lens on an EOS 70D (22 MPix on APS-C sensor) giving an effective 960 mm at the big end. These 2023 photos tell the story. The sunspot was a surprise and shows some detail in the second crop. 5 |

Wanted something for solar viewing, like the flimsy ones they hand out during eclipses, but permanent (sturdy). These work great, can see the sun orange like when using a solar filter on my camera. 5 |

There are plenty of reasons to use a solar filter — not just eclipses. I have used it to photograph sunspots and to do very long exposures. Optical quality is excellent. 5 |

I don’t use solar filters often except during the days of eclipses so the only thing I can say is this filter did its job and there’s nothing more I could need from it. Will come in handy for the next three eclipses of this decade. 5 |
