Assorted Silver Oxide Watch Batteries

Nikon specified either an Alkaline or Silver Oxide battery for my original model Nikkormat EL. I tried both and both work perfectly. So this is a good option for you in one of these older cameras. I can't say about all cameras, but my Nikkormat's meter works just as well with this silver oxide battery as it does with the alkaline. Supposedly, sliver oxide batteries work better at colder temperatures. So give it a try!

Whereas the voltage output of alkaline batteries has been shown to decrease over use and time, silver oxide batteries have a much more constant voltage output over the life of the battery. For this reason I prefer to use silver oxide batteries whenever possible. I chose the Exell S28PX battery to use in my Pentax digital spotmeter, which I've used periodically from time to time over the past two years, including in cold winter weather, and I've been very satisfied with its performance.

My old cameras seem happier with silver oxide than with alkaline batteries. The silver oxide ones keep their voltage stable longer, and they have less of a tendency to leak than alkaline batteries. They are harder to find these days, so I'm glad that B&H still stocks them.

I chose to buy a silver oxide battery to use in my Pentax digital spotmeter because silver oxide batteries are supposed to maintain a constant voltage output throughout their life and thus provide consistent performance, whereas the voltage output of alkaline batteries declines over time and thus affects their performance. The Excel S28PX battery that I bought seems to be performing well after about 2 years of occasional use; I'm happy with it.

Even though these batteries are 1.5V and the original mercury-oxide batteries were 1.4V, I really detect no difference the the meter output, and given the latitude of film, would make no practical difference. They work great!

This is a handy pouch for my assorted photography gear (batteries, memory cards, tripod quick release, flash trigger, remote shutter release, lens wipes, lens filters, light meter, etc. as well as various personal affects in my travel light rucksack where I limit myself to one 35 mm camera and one extra lens. Lots of options out there, but I like this one for its multi-compartments and overall utility.

I own five of these Moonshine Battery Caddys to store my AA, AAA and assorted (AA, AAA and 9V) batteries in. These were designed for aviation pilots so they could easily locate spare batteries at night. Once exposed to light these will emit a dim glow-in-the-dark so you know exactly where your batteries are located. As a location audio sound man, it's very easy to locate my batteries on dark or dimly lit sets or exteriors. Much more secure than typical clamshell battery cases where your batteries can spill out if the case is dropped. It's a small perk to make your workflow and life in general a little bit easier.

I use this bag for my Nikon D80 and 3 lenses, flash and assorted sd cards and batteries. It works quite well, but will have to upgrade as my gear expands. Overall, a good value.
