Asus Portable Usb Monitor Review

I needed a compact, simple, high-quality, secondary display to sit beside my main monitor. I very much wanted a portable monitor, but not to actually carry around with me, just not an ordinary display with the clutter of power cord/stand/etc. It will mostly be sitting in one place, but the nature of my work involves frequent changes to all the hardware connected to my system, so a degree of portability is great. What I also didn't really want was the usual origami case/cover/stand that comes with most portable monitors. I think they're great, but just not right for this particular usage. Before the Lenovo I tried an Asus Zenscreen, which was pretty awesome, but had a battery (great for true portable use!) but wouldn't power-up if the battery needed charging, which is a hassle I don't need. The Asus also had an HDMI input, which the Lenovo lacks, and also built-in speakers (if I recall correctly). Again, for true portable use, the speakers are almost a must-have, so for some people the Lenovo won't fit the bill. The lack of HDMI support is a little disappointing, for sure, but even though I would have made use of it, it also wasn't a deal breaker (for me). So, yes, if all you need is the display, and your computer/device supports video over USB-C, this is a great option. Minor gripe is the straight plug and length of the supplied USB-C cable. A right-angled plug and another foot or so of length would have been much better. I had to buy a separate cable, and (as I discovered the hard way!) not many USB-C cables support the alt mode of Displayport-over-USB, and the correct cable wasn't cheap! For me, in this particular scenario, this Lenovo is pretty much perfect. For some people it may be a little too basic, so for those people I'd say try the Asus.

The ASUS OLED MQ16AH is a phenomenal portable monitor which renders beautiful imagery with fantastic color accuracy. Perfect for when home or traveling, this monitor is lightweight and occupies very little space. Standard buttons on the monitor allow tuning various display settings. A handy shortcut button was also made available to switch between the pre-configured display presets or customizable to perform some other function. Connecting to the monitor was effortless using either of the two included cables, USB-C to USB-C or USB-C to MINI-HDMI. The bezel around the panel was minimal and unobtrusive. The colors are colorful and vibrant. Lightweight and portable. And for extended control and flexibility, the monitor is mountable on a small tripod. Overall, the ASUS OLED MQ16AH is a fantastic, utilitarian portable monitor offering many features in a small, compact design.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The HP E14 G4 Portable Monitor is exactly what I was hoping for - a decent sized monitor that fits on top of my closed Envy laptop. It provides a useful second extended display for my Envy 27 display. The USB-C cable works perfectly with the USB-C connection from my laptop. The Portable Monitor is light in weight and the foldable stand holds the display at a nice angle. I highly recommend this product.

Awesome, great, trustworthy product, the only issue with the Asus portable monitor is 3 hour battery lifespan...

The Asus ZenScreen MB16AC is a light, portable, easy to use monitor that has changed the way I work for the better. The screen is easy to use and does not require an additional power source. You connect it to your computer via a USB-C cord, download a driver and it is ready to go. I use a MacBook Pro and it works seamlessly. I love the monitor. Don't know how I have worked all these years without one.

This ASUS portable monitor works great. Easy to setup. Its a perfect solution for going between home & office where there isn't a dual monitor solution needed for looking at different documents and workbooks.

I travel for work so travelling light is important. I use a 12 PC Tablet with USB-C connections and this monitor gives me a much larger display and is lighter than my tablet PC! The screen is nice and bright and very clear. You have to download the ASUS DisplayWidget software to really see how great this monitor can be. It's not required for use, but it gives you lots of options and presets for the monitor settings that you can customize and save, including brightness, contrast, colors, and several levels of blue-light filter. It also enables screen rotation on the fly so you don't have to click on anything ? it just rotates the image as you move the screen. The Image is bright, crisp, and easy to see from many angles. The frame and back look very high-end and have great build quality. The folio that comes with it is magnetic so it attaches easily and stays put. It also doubles as a stand that has 3 different angles for horizontal (landscape) display, and is also designed to support the monitor for vertical (portrait) mode. When using the case as a stand, it takes up a lot less desk space compared to the older models. The overall size is great. Despite being a 15.4 monitor that's thinner than a pencil, and with the case weighs less than 2 lbs, it has a very sturdy, high-quality feel. It's definitely the more expensive option for the ASUS line of USB Portable Monitors, nonetheless I feel like I paid more, but got more for my money.

I knew this monitor was going to be compatible with the USB-C to USB-C connection on my Lenovo ThinkPad, but I was a bit unsure whether it would require auxiliary power from my Dell Latitude work laptop. The Thunderbolt connection provided the same connectivity, and I could not be more pleased with the quality and simplicity of the Lilliput. So nice to have just this one cable providing the video and power to the portable monitor. Was not planning for touchscreen capabilities on my portable monitor, but for the price, this feature was a great add-on. I put this decision off for way too long...should have bought it month's ago!
