Asus Router Settings For The Fastest Speeds

If you want to get the fastest WiFi speeds you’ve ever seen, get this thing! On a google fiber connection can max out at 600 Mbps up/down on the 5ghz band and for the smaller IoT devices the 2.4 ghz band is rock solid! That being said, this is not your average plug it in access point/router. There is a learning curve to using the UniFi controller software so don’t expect this to look like your Linksys router’s confit page.

I moved to an area that has 1gb internet speeds and while happy with my 5 year old Asus router, I decided to get this new one. Set was easy via the app. Router is performing great in my small house. Another satisfying Asus product.

Upgrading from an older ASUS RT-AC68U (which is a very popular router) to the new AXE16000, and the increase in speeds (even on the normal 5Ghz band) is noticeable! Not only that but even the wired connection is a huge upgrade; I'm paying for 500mb internet and getting ~485mb download speeds. Lots of features, geared toward gaming but also video streaming. I've been waiting for this router for months, and while it costs, it's worth every penny IMO.

The UI to access the settings of the router is a step up from my really old one that I upgraded. It's nice to have a router that should, in theory, keep up better with future internet speeds, and ASUS's supposed updates for old routers give me some peace of mind, whether it pans out to be true or not. The only thing I wish it could do is stand vertically. The space where my router lives requires this, so it's currently sitting awkwardly on its edge. From all my comparisons, this one looked to be the best ASUS router for the money, and I think I'll be very satisfied with it for a long time.

This is my first ASUS router and it will not be the last. Its good a good router for everyone.
