Asus Wireless Ap

Fantastic AP, and I use it's wireless uplink and work fantastic!

The router works great as a replacement for my ASUS router. Using this in AP mode, while my ISP router provides DHCP and wifi in the basement. Neat that it handles both 2.4GHz and 5GHz devices on the same SSID. An alternate bundle includes a WiFi extender for mesh networking. Stronger signal and a speed boost.

This was a big upgrade from my previous ASUS router, I get much stronger coverage throughout the house despite placing the AP in relatively the same location. Easy to manage from the Unifi interface. One issue I had was that I'm unable to connect my PSP (which is 802.11b) to it, but since every other device I own works great I won't remove a star for that.

I bought this because I wanted a fully configurable AP that lets me select the channel, has 4x4 MIMO, and is hopefully more reliable than the overpriced Asus and Netgear options, because Im sick of buying routers to convert them to AP mode only to have to keep loading flakey firmware after flakey firmware. That and Im tired of trying to build hostapd systems when the cards out there just dont support the features to compete anymore. So far the performance is what I expected from the nanoHD since I didnt want to go to the Pro. Signal is decent in my 1080sq ft apartment but slightly weaker than my Asus rt66u on auto. If I force the power to high seems the same. When we get a house Ill buy more for coverage as needed. Im very happy with the results since I cant afford Aruba like I manage at work.

This AP worked exactly as well as I expected it to. Replace an Asus U66N with upgraded cameras. Coverage is similar but stability and bandwidth are much improved with the new system. I had a problem powering it with my current PoE hub so beware. Cameras are all ok to power but this AP did not work. Anyhow I already ran out of ports on my hub so I just ordered a new Unify 24p switch after having such a great experience with their other products.

I setup 2 of these in a larger house. There is one in the front corner of the house and another one in the back corner. The second unit is setup as an Island AP (wireless uplink to the wired AP). I am then able to walk almost 400 feet from that AP and still get outstanding ping times and great speed test results. The whole property is covered and is about 4 acres! Please note that the 2.4GHz is for the longer range. The 5GHz does not go nearly as far. Also you must use their 24volt power injectors as they are not standard PoE (they are included).

I bought this router and paired it to my 2 ubiquiti wireless ap's. Router works great! Highly recommend. Read all the great reviews about it. They aren't lying.

The U6 LR is preforming (wireless experience) better than the UAP AP Pro I was using. WIFI MAN testing (same settings) roaming, signal. throughput, and latency all appear better with the U6. After configuration to channel band width 180 their was higher connection speeds, lower latency, and better signal strength at the same client locations I tested. I would recommend switching to WIFI 6 if some of your devices support it. Upgrading to WIFI 6 may not be for you if you are not actively upgrading clients and/or AP's. I would strongly consider WIFI 6 for new install. Site 1800sq feet single fam dwelling, one story, 3 bed, 2 bath. Well covered indoor by 1 U6. 8 clients 2.4, 5, 6 balanced WIFI band steering. Good luck!

Purchased this, along with an Edgerouter SFP to replace an aging Netgear router/wireless AP in my apartment. This AP is definitely overkill as far as range is concerned. It provides a stable/quick connection at a great price. I wasn't able to mount this thing on my ceiling right away; I just let it sit on the floor for a few days and you can tell the massive difference in connection quality. Mount this thing on your ceiling if you get it. I guess my only gripe would be the UniFi software. I would really prefer to be able to just log into the AP itself rather than running a controller installed on a PC. It is designed to be an enterprise solution so if this AP is the only UniFi piece of equipment in your network, the UniFi software is going to look very empty or incomplete (photo attached). I knew how the software was going to work prior to my purchase; it's definitely not enough to take a star away. This is probably one of the best wireless APs on the market for the price whether you place 20 of them in an office building, or 1 of them in your living room.
