Att Wireless Internet Router Dhcp Fix

I needed internet access in an old building next to my house. It is too far away from my house to be supported by my wireless router. However, it does share electrical wiring with my house. Running new Cat5 cables was not a good solutions for a variety of reasons so I decided to try TP-Link's AV100 Gigabit Powerline Starter kit. The setup was very easy, basically plug and play. The price was very affordable. While not as fast as a direct connection, it still meets my needs.

I use this to provide backup power for my satellite internet, wireless router and VOIP phone system. Occasionally, it also powers my laptop and external LCD. Works great and has more than ample reserves. Functions out of the box with Apple Macs and seemlessly integrates with Energy Saver in OS X via the included USB cable. No Cons so far.

I recently had my internet provider to increase my speed (from 150mbps download to 330mbps). It turned out that my old Wi-Fi card that I had on my PC couldn't quite handle the speed even though it was rated that it can. I bought this card out of curiosity just to see if it was the PC that was causing the bottleneck and not the card. Once I installed it, the download transfer rate just about doubled compared to the old card. In fact, the speed is about the same I'm getting if I had the network cable connected directly from the modem to the PC Ethernet port itself. Anyway, I would advise anyone to first check their wireless router or wireless modem/router to see what Wi-Fi standard it uses. If you still using an old modem/router, this card will only go as fast as that set up allows it to.

I recently bought a dual band router from B&H but wasn't getting the internet speeds I had expected. I checked the built in wireless card on my laptop and discovered that is was a single band card. I found this dual band adapter at B&H and decided to order one. I ordered it Tuesday and it arrived today. With WIN 10 and using a USB 3.0 port, it was as simple as plug and play. I am now getting 3 times faster internet speeds and am very pleased with this device. The price is great as was the free shipping. I would definitely recommend this device for a home wireless network.

I replace my Cox cable modem and wireless router with Netgear. The signal strength throughout my 2200 sqft house is great. I can even connect my outdoor TV to the internet now. I get the same speed on wireless as I do with the computer plugged into the internet. Great products.

I was having issues with my smart devices and streaming HDTV. My wireless system was only giving me about 100 Mbps even though my cable internet was 800 Mbps. I looked into buying faster internet and discovered if I I wanted the cable company’s top speed of 1.2 Gbps, I needed a new modem. I purchased the latest and greatest cable modem, which was one model newer and capable of 2.5 Gbps. My internet speed didn’t get better. So, I decided to replace my wireless router. I researched the wireless routers available. The three key areas I concentrated on were the WAN connection speed, coverage and wireless specifications included. The ASUS ZenWiFi Pro ET12 was the best in all three categories and the only router I found that had all three top of the line specifications. WAN - 2.5 Gbps Wireless - WiFi 6E Home Coverage - One router and one node replaced one router and five nodes. My coverage is better with less nodes. All my smart devices and my streaming HDTV are working great and I’m getting 950 Mbps internet speed. Smartest upgrade I’ve made.

The router works great as a replacement for my ASUS router. Using this in AP mode, while my ISP router provides DHCP and wifi in the basement. Neat that it handles both 2.4GHz and 5GHz devices on the same SSID. An alternate bundle includes a WiFi extender for mesh networking. Stronger signal and a speed boost.

Oh, I like this router.  I like it a lot.  It is tiny.  It is probably a quarter of the size of the consumer router from Cisco/Linksys, prior to the Belkin acquisition of Linksys, that it replaced.  It is also a managed switch so it is much more feature packed.  It can handle multiple VLANs, VPN, Firewall rules, NAT rules with DMZ roles, and the list goes on.    Here is the negative: It is a managed router with an interface designed for professional network engineers.  I have worked in IT professionally for nearly 25 years and I am extremely grateful that Ubiquiti included the WAN+2LAN2 Wizard as part of their management software.  I was reading through the software manual to set the router up and I am thinking, I see how to configure DHCP, I see how to configure internal routes, now how do I set this up to use DHCP on one of the network ports that I plug in to the cable modem and set up that route to the private network served by this routers DHCP server through NAT?  It turns out the afore mentioned wizard sets up that exact configuration which can then be easily tweaked once all the parts are in place.  And that wizard matters because unlike a consumer router, there is not a dedicated jack to plug in to your modem; any of the five jacks can be configured in that role or any other role.   Basically, this little guy can make your network as intricate as you can conceive with five network ports.  Even with the wizard it is more involved than setting up a consumer router, but a little reading of the manual for individuals not familiar with the terms being used and it should not be much more difficult.  As a final note, the manual can be downloaded from the manufacturers website and if it looks overwhelming then this probably is not the product for you.

Combine this as a cascaded router with my ATT fiber subscription. It more than doubled the speeds. It did require some configuration, but it definitely improved performance.

Works great in our CBS construction home - ATT issued modem/router couldn’t provide a strong signal throughout our home. Orbi fixed our WiFi woes. Also really like the Orbi app.
