Audioengine B1 Wireless Dac Bluetooth Adapter

Because it is advertised to support high-resolution audio, I installed an Audioengine B1 Premium Bluetooth Music receiver in my stereo system--even though skeptical of the product's advertised ability to deliver high-resolution audio--particularly with Bluetooth wireless connectivity--which most obsessed audiophiles believe inherently degrades the listening experience. Although the Audioengine B1 supports audio delivered by any Bluetooth-supported source, I am using it primarily to receive music streamed from the Internet with an Amazon Echo device as the wireless source. Much to my surprise, the Audioengine B1 performed completely as advertised with the audio sounding transparent to the source--and quite near CD-player quality!! 5 |

I bought this B1 Bluetooth Music Receiver for my Audioengine A5+ speakers. Streaming music from my iPhone 6 works seamlessly, was simple to set up, and streams in high quality. I am very happy with this device. It is worth the extra money for sure. 5 |

These speakers sound good coming out of the box, but add the Audioengine B1 Bluetooth audio adapter & they will sound great. Love 'em. 5 |

The Audioengine D1 DAC works as it is advertised. Good quality sound from a reasonably priced DAC. 5 |

I ordered a Korg DS-DAC-10R from B&H on the same day I ordered an Audioengine D1 from Amazon. Overkill? It struck me that the Korg has an unfortunate omission in its design. For Digital input, it only has USB. No Toslink or COAX S/PDIF. This diminishes its use a bit in my pov. So I saw the Korg's use in digitising my LP record collection. I will pare the Audioengine via Toslink with my Audioengine speakers attached to my desktop computers. Audioengine is also quite portable - pocket size. The Korg is solid and heavy in comparison. Okay, what about the sound? I have used the same Panasonic noise-cancelling headphones and same 256kbps MP3s for comparisons. My desktop computer is a high-end, custom-built machine with attention to audio components. Even so, mp3 playback is rather flat without a DAC. The Audioengine is definitely a step up. Clean and crisp. It brings more depth to the music, and pairs well with the Audioengine A2 speakers. Great for everyday music listening at my desk in my home office. The combination definitely beats a sound card and ordinary PC speakers. About US$170. I have not yet digitised LPs, but the Korg sounds gorgeous on playback of ordinary MP3s via the included AudioGate software. A big step up from Audioengine. Clear, separated sounds with wide range (bass and treble). Almost takes MP3s into HiFi era. The Korg is an audiophile component which suits a proper HiFi system. I will figure out how to permanently connect it to the sound system in my living room, with the record player hanging off it. At US600, it is more than 3.5x the price of the AudioEngine - for a reason. I can live with both. Horses for courses. Lots of evaluation pleasure to follow .... 5 |

I first bought the Bose 727012 Bluetooth Music Receiver for my 15 years old Marant SR-7200 AV Receiver which I use as a stereo pre-amp for my two Parasound Halo A23 Amplifiers - each drives a separate channel in bridged mode. The source is my I-phone. Even though the Bose sound is very good (connected via the RCA option instead of the Toslink option therefore I'm using the Bose internal DAC instead of the Marantz DAC). I learned that the Bose range is limited to 30 feet (10 meters). Once my I-phone went beyond the 10 meters range then the signal started to get choppy and eventually dropped (sometimes I get a call then walked away from the music room to take the call). Then I did some research to look for better range with better sound. I couldn't find any review that compare the sounds between bluetooh receivers. I decided to pickup the Audioengine B1 because of its longer range (100 feet or 30 meters) plus many rave professional reviews. After using it for a week, I came to the following conclusion: Its range is definitely much longer than the Bose. There was no interruption as I walked with my I-phone around every room in the house, upstair/downstair, and to the backyard (I think as far away as 60 feet). I didn't go past 60 feet because there is no point to go beyond that plus I want to be able to hear the music. No matter where or how far within the tested 60 feet, I get instant feedback when changing volume and song. The bonus for me with the Audioengine B1 is that the sound is better than the Bose. Everything sounds cleaner and clearer. However, I have to be fair... For the test, I used the Toslink connection with the Audioengine and the RCA with the Bose. Toslink connection bypassed the Audioengine DAC and used the Marantz DAC. I guess my Marantz receiver has a better DAC than the Bose. I didn't bother testing the DAC in the Audioengine even though the professional review did mention that it has an excellent DAC. 5 |

Bought one for my Audioengine B1. Cleans up the sound. To put in audiophile terms lifts a veil. 5 |

I have many of these installed in restaurants, paired with an audioengine B1 bluetooth transmitter and the sound quality is excellent. Being able to transmit an RCA signal over long distances with UTP cable in a single gang decora device that doesnt require power is really amazing. My only complaint is that its very difficult to get two of these side by side in a two gang mud ring/low voltage box. You have to grind the mud ring down and grind the plastic corners of the baluns to make it work. Please muxlab never stop making these! 5 |

I've had cheaper receivers in my car and was disappointed in the quality of the sound. Probably less to do with the DAC and more to do with the analog preamp that feeds the output. The B1 is far superior to those $50 devices. Immediately noticeable are the frequency extension above and below. Low ear fatigue on highs. No muddiness. And, best of all, plenty of preamp headroom even when smart phone is at full volume. The B1 DOES NOT have an internal battery. This is actually good, as it turns on as soon as power is applied and automatically connects with whatever is in range (and previously paired). That means it connects to my iPhone three seconds after I start the car. The B1 sounds better than directly connecting to cable. How is that possible (since there is still more audio file compression going on in the link)? The DAC may be better than the phone's, but it probably has more to do with eliminating the ground loop that occurs when the phone is connected to both a power cable and the earphone cable, which, in my car, causes not only hum, but all kinds of itinerate noises. The B1 doesn't contribute to ground connection problems like this and is thusly many dB quieter. Definitely a "recommend" if one wants the highest possible audio quality from a bluetooth device. 5 |

I had to purchase a bluetooth adapter to make it work. I'd like some instructions on working the wireless control ! The sound is very good. 5 |
