Audioengine D1 With Studio Monitors

The Audioengine D1 DAC works as it is advertised. Good quality sound from a reasonably priced DAC. 5 |

Seem clean. Using with Audioengine D1 24-Bit Digital to Analog Converter USB out of MacPro 2013 to Genlec speakers for video post monitoring. Reviews said cables were the best - and they seem nice and clean, although I'm no audio file. 5 |

I have used Audioengine's 5Plus powered speakers for several years and have been impressed except for distortion.. They had been paired with an unnamed product consisting of three Jack Ryan novel sized units, with wires everywhere and an IMac. Unfortunately, I experienced considerable distortion. The D1 replaced all three and the sound is crystal clear. No discernible distortion. I couldn't ask for more. The only thing that some users might find negative is that the system bypasses all equalization and volume controls on the computer. This is not a problem for me, but if other listeners want a boom box, they will have to provide it after the D1.A big plus is the support Audioengine provides its customers. I emailed them twice with questions regarding the use of the product. In both cases, I received a response immediately. All manufacturers should have the quality of product and customer support they do. 5 |

I use this Stand for in Studio Shoots and sometimes on location. It holds my D1 Strobe and a 4x6 light modifier with no problem. Its the best stand I own. Whats great is how absolutely rugged it is. Only drawback is it is HEAVY! I would not buy this without the optional casters. With the wheels on it it is highly mobile in a studio environment. 5 |

We have fairly well standardized on Profoto strobes and modifiers in our studio so when it came time to pick up more lights, the D2s were a no-brainer. The usual top quality from Profoto. The new baby pin mount operates smooth as silk, unlike my older D1s which need a mighty solid love tap to loosen up and rotate after releasing the tension knob. The new power cord is much more supple and coils nicely. We had to bake the D1 cords in the sun to smooth out the factory bends in them. The new features are great over all, though it's disappointing that it doesn't appear that you can trigger the strobe with a transceiver and optically like you can with the D1; it's one or the other. Sometimes it's handy to have a light triggered either way without changing settings. The fan seems to run the moment the light is plugged in, even if the light isn't turned on. I don't know if it eventually shuts off, but when you've got multiple of these lights on set, the fan noise is appreciable. Pricey, but you get what you pay for and I appreciate that Profoto continues to innovate. 5 |

I already was using some of these for monitors in my studio, but I find them really useful for miscellaneous use such as a table for a laptop. 5 |
