Austin Middle School 7Th Grade Supply List

We use this mike in a middle school seventh grade technology class for a simulated radio broadcast. It gets used for eight class a day and it is kid proof! If I ever needed another one I would buy it again.

I'm a volunteer with the Austin School of Film, a non-profit organization that helps independent filmmakers. I bought two of these kits and our students use them all the time. The case on wheels can take a beating, rolls smoothly, and is organized with 3 partitions for the lights and stands. The cords are long and sturdy, and the fresnel lights work as described. While the stands are just sturdy enough for the big 650 light, I recommend using a sandbag on the feet to prevent it from tipping over. I recommend throwing a pair of heavy gloves inside - the lights get HOT! The softbox works well but is problematic - it's difficult to assemble as four steel rods must be bent nearly 90 degrees. So we keep it assembled instead of putting it back in the bag. We just have to be careful not to tear the fabric. The filter rings are very poorly understood by the majority of filmmakers I talk to. They use diffusion paper or filters taped to the outside of the light instead. Unfortunatly, our rings were quickly lost. All in all, an excellent kit.

I use it in a middle school. Works great. Durable.

My first major use of this lens was at my kid's 7th grade night-time indoor roller rink party, with a D300 and it included low-light disco lighting, w/ and w/o SB800 flash, action, long shots, close shots, portraits, group shots, a few goofy long exposures for fun, and the lens did everything for me marvelously. I can't wait to take it on my vacation in a few months to tropical climes. I do have to travel with a few other lenses to complete my toolbox, but this lens is great and the VR really is amazing.

Best solution for indoor power supply but could have put the transformer at the end not in the middle.

All studio cameras should have a power supply like this. No more changing the batteries in the middle of the shoot.

This thing is awesome! Does everything I need it to do. One thing to be aware of - it DOES come with a power supply, even though it's not listed in the What's In The Box list.

I didn't know what these were for when I bought it, I just bought what was on my class supply list. I think it was a little pricy, but it works great and I do like having different colored sides.

This power supply is industrial grade--I bought it to replace another brand that failed. It's identical to another unit that was installed professionally by an alarm company so you know that the quality is at a commercial level. B&H had exactly what I needed and at a price much lower than their competitors

This is a very reliable microphone. I use it with 11-14 year old middle school students and they hold up very well.
