Austin School Supply Drive

I'm a volunteer with the Austin School of Film, a non-profit organization that helps independent filmmakers. I bought two of these kits and our students use them all the time. The case on wheels can take a beating, rolls smoothly, and is organized with 3 partitions for the lights and stands. The cords are long and sturdy, and the fresnel lights work as described. While the stands are just sturdy enough for the big 650 light, I recommend using a sandbag on the feet to prevent it from tipping over. I recommend throwing a pair of heavy gloves inside - the lights get HOT! The softbox works well but is problematic - it's difficult to assemble as four steel rods must be bent nearly 90 degrees. So we keep it assembled instead of putting it back in the bag. We just have to be careful not to tear the fabric. The filter rings are very poorly understood by the majority of filmmakers I talk to. They use diffusion paper or filters taped to the outside of the light instead. Unfortunatly, our rings were quickly lost. All in all, an excellent kit.

I am a senior in High School and am looking to study Graphic Design. Working on my portfolio at school and at home can be very difficult when I don't always have the right files with me. Saving all of my artwork onto this hard drive to carry back and forth has made my life a lot easier, considering the hard drive is portable. I use this hard drive on both Mac (school) and Windows (home) computers and it has not given me any problems so far. I look forward to getting even more use out of it!

Bought this to hold the G-Tech RAID 0 drive. It's awesome. Room for drive and power supply.

This drive works as well as if it had been built into the iMac. It allows us to manage all of our old school media and devices.

Drive installed and works well--no issues at all. Note, you must supply SATA connector and installation instructions are limited--thank goodness for internet. B&H customer service is as always outstanding; ordered and shipped next day!

I added a second SATA hard drive to my computer. It did not come with cables. The computer power supply has a number of pigtails with the old white plastic connectors. This cable converts them to the connector used for power on the SATA drive. It works just fine.

Arrived on time and wa easier to order online then drive around to office supply stores.

Very small hard drive. No additional power supply needed. Using it as my mac time machine hard drive. Couldn't be easier to use. Only possible downside is that it has a proprietary cable that must be used with it. As long as you don't lose the cable, it's no problem.

After buying a new external hard drive, I bought this unit with an external power supply so the hard drive wasn't running off the PC's power supply. I don't have any 3.0 ports on my Toshiba Satellite but the hub and everything connected to it doesn't mind. A very convenient device.

It holds the laptop, power supply, mouse, microphone and external DVD drive without complaining.  It looks good.
