Auto Bluetooth Fm Adapter

My first Nikon was a Nikonos II with flashbulb flash (I still own!), and hence a number of F-series DSLR's including F2, F3, FM, FM2, then D70, D90, D3, D5300, two D7500's and a lot of Nikon glass .... this camera was my first foray into mirrorless and it feels so comfortable like the FM and FM2 I used so much for travel. I still shoot with my D3. I took my two 7500's on an extended Southern Ocean expedition trip and they performed flawlessly. I chose the Zfc for my planned time in Buenos Aires and street photography - it was perfect with the short zoom. I also bought the 80-200 and the adapter for my older Nikon lenses which I have not tried yet. Recently I was back home and shot some wildlife pics with the 80-250 including the bald eagle pictured. The auto zoom worked perfectly. I also shot some pics with the same lens at a night rodeo - I was much impressed with the auto focus there as well and the handling of the low light even at high shutter speed.

I live in a hilly area where FM is sketchy and only few stations come trough, but AM radio rules. Radio is great, and both AM and FM antennas work well. Interestingly, Yamaha seems to be the only one on the market with FM. On the amplifier side it works with an older JVC tape deck, but if I want to listen to vinyl, an additional preamp is needed on the way to the receiver, receiver's amplifier alone won't work. Once preamp is in place all sounds fine. The Bluetooth is the receive mode to play from the devices. This is not a send mode Bluetooth to Bluetooth speakers, as some users assume.

I bought this about a month ago to replace a 34 year old (!) Sony Stereo receiver. The old one had AM-FM receiver capability. This one only has FM Receiver built-in, but it sounds a lot cleaner than the older model. This one has fewer output jacks than my older one, but is more than adequate for my setup (Sony Stereo Cassette Deck - going on 20 years now also !), and a bluetooth Audio-Technica Record Player. This model also contains the regular size headphone jack AND a standard audio output jack on the front for older style cassette players, walkman's, etc. Very unusual feature but useful for me as I still use some of that older gear from time to time. I primarily bought and use this product for its bluetooth capability which works excellently. I have my phone, and computer able to play music to it through bluetooth. I realize bluetooth specs don't carry the full frequency range for a lot of audio musical pieces (such as classical music), but for the everyday average pop music it's just fine. This is a great entry level unit for a person who is not an audio-phile. I also bought this because of Sony durability in its products. This thing is built like a brick. Good design accents, solid metal frame, heavy duty components. I will always buy Sony products - good balance between cost, design, and functionality. Couldn't be happier with this product.

Terrific receiver/amplifier for the money. Great FM reception and the bluetooth range is very good. Very good sound quality. The unit is very easy to configure and operate.

This stereo receiver checks off all the features we need. The first selling points were the Bluetooth and FM receiver and the ability to connect to the room's built-in speakers in a small compact unit. It is a perfect size.

After Formatt stoped supporting their FM-500 matte box I found this adapter ring which allows me to use my matte box on all my new lenses with appropriate set-up rings.

Pros: - Sound is more refined - Bluetooth 5 gives me the 8-12’ of extra distance from devices that I needed. - Connecting to the TV and iPhone at the same time is very useful. Whichever device is sending audio gets auto-selected. Better auto-connection to devices when first turned on. - Noise Cancelling is ~20-30% better with a side to side comparison. - Can be listening to TV and get a phone call from 2nd device. CONS: - Battery seems to fade faster (~10-15% faster than XM3) but probably due to the 2 added mics, extra bluetooth signal, bluetooth strength, and deeper, fuller sound quality. - Even with the new superior Bluetooth 5, some TVs (ex. 2015 Samsung LED) have continual audio glitches. (Not the headphones fault but rather a Samsung problem that may occur on other TVs as well). Love the updated XM4s and can’t wait to see the XM5s improve on the battery. Perhaps offer a second upgrade padding for we people with big heads and big ears.

You may want to consider a Bluetooth adapter for your headphones rather than this. They are harder to loose and more convenient.

So perhaps I was too quick to judge. I was having horrible battery life issues with my SL2-S and then I discovered that bluetooth was ON, which is fine, but not when Auto Wakeup is also ON. With this configuration on the SL2-S it will very quickly drain the life out of a battery even when the camera is switched off or asleep. Leaving both of these off significantly improves battery life and if Auto Wakeup is off bluetooth can remain configured ON and not drain the battery when the camera is switched off. Hope this helps others...
