Avalon Talking Watch Battery

this is the best preamp value on the market that ive found.....used a avalon in a friends studio, and owned a ua la-610 in my own studio....both of these preamps are 1500 dollars or more, and are not as clean and crisp sounding as the grace designs preamp....and where other preamps take a degree to figure out how they work, and take a LONG TIME to get set to prefrence, this little gem is SIMPLE and very EASY to fine tune....for under seven hundred dollars, this is a professional preamp needed to make the leap from home studio to professional turnkey studio, and buy it from BHPHOTO, they are the best

Listening and talking sounds are clear. Design is nice and sleek. Battery Life is good too.

I needed a mic for corporate-style talking head interviews. This is a really, really great sounding mic! I used it with a Tascam DR-60 MkII and it sounded very clean. Very low noise floor. It feels nice. The only thing I don't like it when you run it off battery power, you have to take the batter out. There's no battery switch.

I purchased this because my former battery tester was not providing great results. After talking to my electrical engineer friend, he recommended this unit, especially because it does a load test, which provides a more realistic result of the battery's capability. It tests a variety of battery formats and is easy to use. I am really happy with this tester.

I was filming a series of talking heads with my FX3. We were on a roll and almost exhausted my last Sony battery. I used the Anton/Bauer on my last shoot, ran the entire time with hours to spare, and I didn't worry once. Peace of mind! I also travel to India yearly and this will pack nicely into my coat pocket. Not much clean electricity in the village, so no more charging worries like last year. Worth the investment.

Great handhelds with a lot of different functions. Battery life is easily all day if your not talking an overly large amount.

It's not an Avalon, but if you want a lot of bang for the buck, this is it. I'll likely pick up another two of these things. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet and transparent it is. I am using this one to mic my stereo guitar amp rig with an MXL990 on each cab. This has done wonders for my tone in the mix. I would like to have four more decent mic preamps at the console and these will do nicely.
