Using it for guitar but appears to suit small amplifiers well.

I bought to of these to run as a stereo pair for guitar amplifiers in a live environment. They are terrific! They handle whatever two 100 watt amps can throw at them and do not color the sound in any sort of negative manner. They definitely let the amps tone shine right through. I went from two classic Sm57s to these and I just notice more clarity and detail than I did with the 57s. Mic placement is a breeze. I spent all of 5 minutes with a pre-recorded loop figuring out the most natural sound and its very easy to find the large sweetspot with these mics. Again, the 57 does not have a huge sweet spot.

Since obtaining this microphone, I have used it to mic up two different guitar amplifiers to good effect. Overall, the sound is warm and the bass response becomes more pronounced the closer it is placed to the grille cloth. Positioning the mic around six inches away produces a more balanced and useable sound IMHO. I have yet to try this mic with a Cloudlifter, which I believe should, when used in conjunction with the Fat Head II, yield a better, hotter signal.

I use the surge protector to power my guitar amplifiers and other accessories in my home recording studio. The long power cord affords me the ability to move the surge protector around the room without hassle. Lots of outlets and slim profile. Also a major plus is the low profile/right angle plug which fits flat against the wall allowing furniture to be pushed closer to the wall.

If you are recording outdoors with a dead cat on your microphone, there is no guarantee it will not pick up bad wind noise. This microphone has a send port so you may plug a set of earphones into it to monitor the sound and have a chance to correct sound issues before they reach your editing program.

I've only had the mic for a few weeks but I really like it. I'm an amateur film maker and I needed a mic for interviews and talking heads. The mic does the job, it works great. You do have to make sure you don't put the microphone to close to the persons mouth or else you will get some bad feedback when the person says words that include P,S, and T. The cord is long BUT it works because a long cord is useful. A cord that is too long is better than a cord that is to short. You can wrap it up and twist tie it if you want it shorter. I used it to record my guitar too, it did better than I thought. I just had to make sure my guitar was not to close to the microphone, otherwise I'd get reaaaly bad feedback. The one con I can think of is that there is no volume control. It's real easy to use too!

If these amplifiers give you what you ask for, they are great, a clean and strong sound.

I use this product to connect power amplifiers to a speaker network.
