Holds Bar code reader very firmly, in places that are hard to get to.

The two color system is a pleasure to work with and the bar code function makes it so much easier for inventory control

Great stand for desktop use. Only one drawback is that bar code label took some work to remove.

Purchased this to use for positioning bar code readers, sensors etc to allow us to design permanent mounting fixtures for the devices on nachinery.

I own books passed down in my family for several centuries. I wanted a solution that would let me scan a book without ruining its spine. The Plustek OpticBook 3800L Scanner is precisely what I was looking for. The scanner practically functions to the very edge of the glass (save for a few millimeters). This allows me to place an entire page of the book on the glass while holding the other half of the book, saving the book from any serious pressure or wear. Did I mention how comfortable and easy it was to use this device? If my over-70-year-old father can use this scanner, I assure you that you can, too. Scan a page, press a single button. Flip the book to the next page and repeat. The scanner works faster than conventional flatbed scanners I've used previously. The quality of the scans are also great, whether black and white, grayscale, or color. A friendly reminder: If you will store the scanner when not in use, please remember to flip the switch underneath the device. This switch locks the scanning mechanism so as to prevent damage. Oh, and keep the original box. It's great for storing the scanner! If you have any precious texts that you would like to archive safely yet your budget does not permit more fancy solutions, then this is exactly what you need. Give it a try!

I have been using the A300 Plus scanner a few days now and can say it does what it was made for. It has been working great at scanning large format books (old bound newspapers). The automated scanning available in the software is great. The default is every 15 seconds which seems to be just about enough time to rotate and turn pages. So far I am very pleased with it and have had no problems with it preforming as expected.

I’ve used this scanner for books, documents, drawings, and receipts. Some reviews stated that it is not great at color scans, but mine has been surprisingly good at color. The scanned image is vibrant and faithful to the original. One huge plus is that it comes with two separate pro-grade PDF manipulation software programs. One from ABBYY and one from Nuance. Both programs do a good job with OCR, and each one has other capabilities that complement other. The ScanSnap software that Fujitsu provides is pretty good. The book scanning feature has some neat features, like the automatic finger detection and removal tool. The page-turning feature is a little hit or miss, but if it misses the page turn, all you need to do is wave your hand under the scanner and it registers and starts another scan. Overall, I actually like the scanner more than I expected. It is definitely easier and faster than my flatbed scanner.

I recently purchased this scanner because I digitize old, out-of-print books. My old scanner no longer worked, so I decided on a replacement and went with Plustek. It works great. Modifying the scan settings is very easy, the buttons are well-placed, scans do not have any blurring near a less-than-perfectly-flat spine (unlike many other scanners I've used), the time it takes to scan isn't an issue, and I simply have no issues with it. It does what I want it to do.

I use this scanner primarily for copying material from books that are too difficult to place on a flat bed scanner. I also keep it with my laptop when I travel so that I always have the capability to copy material I find on my journeys. It has proven to be a reliable and very helpful device. Additionally, the AABBY OCR software is great.
