Basic Photography Studio Lighting Setup

Affordable lights great for basic studio lighting.

Use it for general Lighting, maybe in a studio setup as well.

I think I have 4 of these now. I use them for desktop mic's of course but also to hold cameras and camera lighting around my studio. Good basic equipment.

Mostly for studio setup, to build anything, lighter than a brick, as reliable as a basic tool.

I use this case for a basic lighting setup and camera. I was able to get two strobe heads, my canon 5d mark ii with a wide angle lens, 2 additional lenses, a magic clamp, light meter, extra battery, cf cards, some cords, and my battery charger in with a little room to spare. I did not expect to get so much in. For portraits I can carry this case and one for light stands. That's pretty awesome. It's a tough case, rolls really nicely, I love all the handles, and the latches work great. I really have nothing negative to say about it. It is heavy, but I'm rolling it 99% of the time.

I have just gotten a SB-700 flash which has many great features which are good for basic point-and-shoot photography and also much more complicated lighting setups. I wanted a DVD to explain both the basic and advanced uses of my new flash. With about two hours of material, this DVD does a great job of going through both basic and advanced uses of the flash. Although the DVD is specifically targeted at how to use the SB-700 flash, it does a great job of explaining many techniques and principles of flash photography, in general. I found the DVD to be a great investment to help me get a better understanding of the flash, how to use it and what directions I can grow into in the future as my lighting needs change. The only downside of this DVD is that it may make you want to spend more money on flash and lighting equipment.

Simple, solid and effective device. For basic studio-type setup to avoid the direct illumination from the camera-mounted flash. Quick to set up, reliable and capable of quite rapid sequence of exposures.

I don't have a studio lighting setup and I try to avoid the use of flash. This produce is useful when soft fill flash is necessary.
