Bass Preamp Pedals

I bought this to replace other non-digital compression and eq pedals. I was not interested in calling up many patches. I try to get a McCartney sound and along with nylon flats on a Hofner this allows me to dial it in. I use the Bassman preamp, para-eq's, graphic eq, dbx 160 and MXR stle compressors. I created 3 different patches, tic tac bass, plinky but full bass and deeper bass. I play with two acoustic guitarists in smaller rooms so I use a small Gallien Krueger amp or a Markbass 12 inch combo. My only complaint is that none of the compression settings have any visuals showing gain reduction so it's all up to my ears. Sound quality is great. I haven't spent much time trying out the other patches but their Markbass patch impressed me on how close it was to a Markbass amp. 5 |

The EHX series of organ pedals are a breath of fresh air in an industry that seems content recycling the same basic stompbox designs. You can get a wide range of sounds that go from subtle organ texture to bizarre voicings. Having a dry signal out is fantastic for players like me (bass) who want to keep an uneffected signal to my bass rig. Meanwhile I can run the organ sounds into a separate amp and/or series of pedals and tweak to taste. I'm not sure I'll use it in a live setting much, but its a blast to record and play with. 5 |

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I play bass guitar and LOVE effect pedals, normally I use a power supply for my pedals, but if you use effects you know that some pedals work, and sound better with batteries. That’s where these rayovac high energy 9v batteries come into play. I definitely don’t want to be fumbling around with dead batteries on stage, and these last longer than most of the more expensive ones. Another great product from rayovac! 5 |

This mic is a no brainer to setup. All I did was just switch on the bass roll off to match the vocalist voice I was recording. The greatest thing about this mic is no matter how hard the vocalists sang there were no distortions. The voice was clear and uncolored. It is unbelievable that a mic for around this price point (300ish) can make such a difference to a track. Imagine I tested it out with an air conditioning unit on behind it and it rejected the noise from it. This is the amazing thing about this mic. Record in a noisy room and it would cancel out most of the unwanted sound. It is early days yet and I cannot complain. Buy this mic while they are still being manufactured. I am getting another one for my drum kit snare. It is heavy but no hassle. A little secret I have a UAD Apollo twin. I inserted the 610A preamp plugin on the console preamp insert slot and it had enough gain to spare. I could not believe what I heard. An elephant can use this mic. 5 |

I am using the Telefunken ECC83-TK/12AX7 in the v1 position in my bass preamp. It has a smooth bottom and mid-range without being too bright and harsh at the higher frequencies. Sounds nice with my 4003 Rickenbacker. 5 |

The construction of these pedals is incredible, a brilliant piece of engineering almost entirely constructed from either metal or aluminium. The range of adjustment for the angle of the brake pedals, and spring tension for the rudder will allow anyone to find a realistic setup. I've read in some reviews that people claim they are uncomfortable to use as the base of the pedals press into the arches of your feet. Once airborne I move my heels to the ground and move the rudder by sliding my feet backwards and forwards using just the base of my toes comfortably pushing at the front edge bottom of each pedal. I only move my feet up and balance them on the pedals while taxiing and just before landing, ready for the only time I'll need to actuate the brakes. The pedals are supplied with 4 large rubber pads installed at each corner of the metal base. I have the pedals sitting on a hardwood floor and due to their weight and the grip of the rubber pads, they do not move at all either while braking or moving the rudder to its maximum deflection. My previous rudder pedals were CH Products Pro Pedals which I bought in 2002. They served me very well for close to 20 years, but it was time to upgrade now we have Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. The Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder Pedals have exceeded my expectations both for their build quality and feel in use. I thoroughly recommend them, and in my opinion, they are well worth the investment. 5 |
