Battery Free Camera Stabilization

The D850 is the a large camera and to have this battery pack added to the bottom of the camera provides a tremendous stabilization advantage when shooting photographs without using a tripod. If you purchase the D850 I strongly recommend the purchasing this also.

This really is a great camera for the price. The lenses are fairly cheap for it since the image stabilization is in body. However, battery life is pretty abysmal.

I'm super impressed with the camera. It takes some learning to get used to, biggest challenges for me were the lack of in-body stabilization and a change of approach given that it doesn't have Auto-ISO (like the GH5). For these you need lenses with stabilization (or a gimbal) and simply a different approach in editing which works great with Resolve. Battery life is awful. The included battery also sucks, so don't count on that. I bought 3 original Canon batteries. The Canon batteries show what % power is left as you're using the battery, counting down 1% at a time, although the camera often dies abruptly at around 4%. With the included battery you don't get a % usage, just Full, Half, Quarter, Dead the included battery only seems to last 75% as long as the Canon batteries, and refuses to charge in my Canon charger which is a hassle. Actual recording time that I see with my usage model is around 15-17 minutes with the included battery, and 21-23 minutes with the Canon batteries (I'm recording UHD/60/12:1 compression)

I bought this camera as the requisite new-father video camera. The low light capability on this is perfect for indoor baby footage. This camera is excellent for a home use or for basic amateur video production. It provides some manual controls when you need them, but the interface for these controls is too slow and clunky for full blown video production. It is small and light enough that it isn't tiring to hold and fits in my camera bag with my SLR, but large enough that it is easy to hold steady. The standard image stabilization is decent, but when you turn on the powered stabilization it is amazing (and battery draining). The only difference that I can find between this and the S20 is that the S20 has built in memory. The S21 introduces more memory and a viewfinder. Unless you need the extra memory, the S200 with some good name-brand is probably a better buy than the S20, but the S21 or S30 makes sense if you want a viewfinder. A larger/extra battery is a must in any good quality video camera these days, and this is no exception. I use SanDisk Ultra (class 4), which easily handle the highest data rate the camera supports (3MBps or 24Mbps). Faster cards may improve startup speed and other operations, but I haven't made any comparisons. I would definitely recommend this camera.

A very useful accessory which allows more flexibility when videoing and increases camera stabilization.

I was lucky enough to receive one for free with my Blackmagic Pocket 4K. I mount it right to the bottom of my camera with the dummy battery attachment, giving me over 2 hours of battery life.

This battery pack was free when purchasing the Nikon D750. I'm glad it was because it made buying a great camera easier. After handling the camera with the battery pack attached, I have to say that I would not have a camera without it. Having that extra hand hold, 'grip', gives me more confidence. Makes photography a greater experience.
