Battery Options Blackmagic Cinema Camera

Believe the hype -- this cage will take your Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera to places you would never imagine. The camera is now usable in a tense, fast paced, professional production environment. This is due to the addition of many great features such as mounting options, rails, and, my favorite (and most looked over); the handling options. I recently worked on a shoot with an pro AC who's been working in the industry for many years, and he was extremely happy working with the Blackmagic PCC4K because of the opportunities this cage allowed for. I also no longer have to worry as much about the camera breaking; the cage feels extremely solid, and I feel like I can bring it to harsh conditions for different shoots; this is GREAT for documentary filmmakers. Overall, I haven’t found any Cons with this cage. If you own a BMPCC4K - this cage is a necessity!

I used the Blackmagic Cinema Camera in college and decided to get my own film camera after I graduated. I had my eye on this for a long time and finally decided to pull the trigger. It's amazing! The touch screen menu makes changing the settings lightning fast and the image quality is unbeatable in this price range. The only downside is the battery life. But, there's a wall plug and other battery upgrades available, so it's only a minor inconvenience for me.

I use this for my Blackmagic Cinema 4K camera and my IKAN Quick Snap Pro Battery Rail Kit with V-Mount Battery Plate for Blackmagic Cinema Camera / Production Camera. When I bought the V-mount it came with the P-Tap to BMCC adaptor but it came with an additional add on part to fit in the AC jack on my camera. I had it for a week and some how the adaptor piece broke. The v-mount plate works great and is sleek but I needed a replacement part to have it work. I found this and everything is much easier. Theres no additional plug to make this work, this is ready to use out of the box and works perfectly with the Blackmagic Camera. No headache, no issue and so far its working perfectly. Worth the money.

I use this to work with my Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema 4K camera and Sony F series Battery Holder from Smallrig, it works well!

I get an hour out of each battery with my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. No complaints and happy with the product and price. Photo is of BMPCC shooting timelapse of sunset...a situation where you don't want to lose power and have to swap out a battery.

I love using my Blackmagic 6K Pocket Cinema Camera, but the battery that comes with it is a joke. I just attach a Core battery to it and it works for hours. I often use my camera to stream meetings. I have seen the battery go for 2 hours straight. It's invaluable to what I do.

I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone looking for a cinema-quality image on a (semi high-end) DSLR budget. The image is crisp and film-like, and the RAW format opens up a word of options for coloring in post. Is it perfect? Of course not. What camera is? But, for the price it's an amazing value. One of my favorite aspects of this camera is the user interlace. It's the most well laid out and pleasing UI of any camera system I've used. The foldout display is great. The top side quick function buttons for false color, LOG preview, and aspect ratio guidelines are equally fantastic. Another big selling factor is the native compatibility for Canon EF lenses. That's a huge plus over the 4K model. Blackmagic RAW is incredibly versatile in post within DaVinci Resolve Studio. I shot mostly 6K at 8:1 compression, and while I had to optimize some media for my machine, playback worked very well. The color science of Blackmagic Film Gen 5 is truly magical and unmatched. There's also an option for ProRes RAW, but file sizes will be much, much larger (DaVinci doesn't support ProRes RAW currently, either). A couple downsides - the battery life isn't great, so grabbing a few extra batteries is a must for shoots. Blackmagic has an official battery grip for this model, but that will make the body pretty bulky. So, it depends on your rig needs. A V-mount battery may be your best bet for longer shoots. There's so IS or autofocus, but that isn't a problem for me as I prefer manual focus for video. More so, standard cinema lens are manual focus pulled anyway. The body is definitely larger than a DSLR, but it is a dedicated cinema camera so the tradeoff in size is acceptable.

I have two of these - one for Canon body, one for Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera. When the cameras are powered from a 98 WH IDX battery with D-taps, I can run the cameras literally all-day without worrying when the battery needs to be changed. So far everything works perfectly - no problems with fit, no problems with function. Nothing gets hot. Very happy with these adapters.
