The main feature is that you CAN hear outside voices and noises - which is why you WOULD buy this headphone. Excellent sound. Highs very crisp. Mid range is is clear as any others. Bass needs an amp. These high impedance headphones need an amp to really get the bass to PUNCH. Any one who tells you otherwise is blowing smoke up your (you know what). This applies to ALL high impedance headphones out there that DO NOT not have an amp. All fellow EEs out there please chime in on this! There are a plethora of amps out there but if you are a project person try this one. Bass Bump headphone amp - YouTube. You get what to need at a low price - but need to know how to use a soldering iron and a few other tools.

Needed a headphone amp for home studio. This is the only one on the market that handles every impedance from 8 to 1000 ohms-- critical if one is mixing headphone types. Most phones today are 50 to 60 ohm... too low for other amps. Plenty of output channels too.

I finally replaced my 11-year old AKG K 701 headphones with something newer - the Sennheiser HD600's. Actually, the HD600's hit the market before the now-discontinued K 701's but they appear to be a timeless design that still finds favor with studio pros and music lovers alike. I needed the higher impedance (300 ohms) of the HD600's as compared to the newer AKG K 712's - the replacement for the K 701's. The higher input impedance of the HD600's are a better match for my headphone amp which has a relatively high output impedance of 10 ohms. If you don't have a roughly 10-to-1 difference between the output and input impedance your system it could create some severe frequency response irregularities. I was hearing this with my old K 701's driven by my new headphone amp. The HD600's solve the problem, sound great and are very comfortable. I just hope they last as long as the AKG's...

I always wanted to try open back headphones, and these happened to be the cheapest that had decent specs. While it may not sound like my friends pair of Beyerdynamic DT990, it does provide very good sound! The frequency response is clean and flat, it doesn't boost anything, I can hear everything from the bass drum to the high-hat with these headphones. The stereo separation is phenomenal, I can hear things pan right to left like never before, it sounds more complete and dynamic now. These headphones cost me less than $20! And even came with a 1/4th inch stereo adapter. The impedance (32 Ohms) and the fact that it's open-back makes it a bit of a double edge sword. On the one hand, the high impedance helps block out whatever distortion is coming out of the headphone jack, and the open-back nature adds more depth to the sound stage, on the other hand, BOTH of these factors means that the headphones will be quieter and thus the volume has to be raised accordingly. That can be problematic when you try using this on a low output device, like a phone or computer. If need be, I can use a headphone amp. One last thing to mention about the open backs of these headphones, sound leaks. You can hear the outside world, and conversely the rest of the would can hear what you're listing to, so these are pretty far from noise cancelling, These are all things to consider. I love these headphone! And maybe you will too!

We have a high end A/V receiver with only one headphone jack, and two sets of headphes with different impedance levels. Using a passive splitter resulted in one set of headphones being much louder than the other. This amp is the perfect solution. Small (important in an apartment), does the job with no perceptable difference in audio quality, and way less expensive than comparable units. I also like that the output jacks are in front. Makes connecting and disconnecting headphones easy. We mainly use the unit for home theater after our little one has gone to bed, so we can enjoy movies and TV without waking her. The only negative, and this is purely subjective, is that I'd prefer knobs to sliders, but it's a minor quibble. Highly recommended.

An alternative to using the headphone jack on your MacBook Pro.

I needed a proper way to convert and feed a pro level XLR audio out of a powered portable PA speaker / mixer main line out to a RCA input of my assistive listening transmitter in a Church for my hard of hearing folks that for some reason only has a RCA input jack. I never had any luck with those simple adapters or a cable with a XLR on one end and a RCA on the other! To do it right I needed to not only convert the jacks but also convert the impedance. This is a quality very well built product featuring top rated Neutrik brand RCA and XLR jacks in a nice aluminum enclosure and an impedance matching transformer that allowed me to properly convert the signal. Yes, this is more expensive than the other simple adapters but I wanted pro results and pro results is what I got. Perfect for my situation.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works so great! I had some beats that I was no longer able to use due to the headphone jack change on my Iphone and this did the trick! Thanks so much for creating such a great and easy product!! :) TL

I used this to convert my beats three pin headphone connection to a normal connection to my headphone amp. Being that the Beat has that third line on the connector it didn't let my headphone go stereo because that third line is used for Mic or cell phone connection it would interfere. It does its job nothing else.
