Benq Computer Monitor Light

I bought this monitor because my computer could not drive a 4k monitor. It is a very good monitor in par with the BenQ PD3200U 32 16:9 4K IPS Monitor which I have on my other computer.

I ordered this monitor on Saturday evening, Dec. 2, and received it in Bethesda, MD, early the following Monday morning. Well done, as usual, B&H Photo! I unpacked it and set it up, only to find that the proprietary BenQ Palette Master Ultimate software wouldn't recognize either the monitor or my colorimeter. You need the BenQ software to perform a hardware calibration. Other calibration software, even Calman's at $2000, will only perform a software calibration. I called BenQ tech support and was delighted to discover it's U.S.-based. I was not so delighted to have them tell me, however, that the problem with the software had arisen a few weeks ago, and they did not yet have a solution. The BenQ engineers thought a recent Windows update might have made changes that caused the problem. After a few calls, the BenQ tech support staff eventually escalated me to a BenQ technical support manager. She could not have been more diligent in working with me, and after a few days, she provided new drivers for my computer's USB serial computer. Miracle of miracles, that worked! But beware! It only worked when I attached the colorimeter to the side of the monitor via a USB-A port there and to the monitor to the computer via the BenQ-supplied USB-A to USB-B cable.  Palette Master Ultimate would not recognize the colorimeter if I used its native USB-C connection when connected to either the monitor or the computer. There were times early on when I thought I would have to pack up the monitor and send it back to B&H Photo, no small task because the monitor comes in an extraordinarily large box and its packaging is like a Rubik's cube. BenQ's tech support, however, did itself proud! The image quality of the monitor is outstanding, and with the software now working, I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I received this hood free as an incentive to purchase a BenQ SW240 computer monitor. The hood came very neatly packed with simple-to-follow assembly instructions. It works on a vertical or horizontal monitor (it has extra pieces if used vertically). I loved my BenQ monitor as is-- but the shade makes an incredible difference in the quality of viewing by reducing extraneous light on the screen. I can now work very comfortably with light shining in from my window, which I had previously curtained. If one is to invest in a quality monitor for processing photographs or video, I suggest a hood is mandatory. This hood is definitely a quality product that was carefully designed. It includes a slide hatch on the top if one wants to attach a color-calibration tool. I believe sophisticated users who seek perfection will require a hood for any monitor they purchase in the future-- and I can even imagine we will soon see new designs, perhaps designs made a part of future monitors. In the meantime, I imagine this is as good as it gets. I love it! Also, thank you BHPhoto for the great bargain I got on my monitor and screen. They both arrived fast and in perfect condition. Both the monitor (BenQ SW240) and shading hood work perfectly together!

So far, this monitor is a terrific pairing with my MacBook. Great color and reduced my eye fatigue since I'm on a computer all day. I do want to note I had to send back the first BenQ I ordered due to significant light bleed issues. When I reached out to customer service, they were fantastic and started my return immediately. I reordered the same BenQ PD3220U, and after performing a light bleed and pixel test, the second unit was a keeper. The main reason for this purchase was for FCPX and photo editing, along with video conferencing and email work. Due to dealing with the return depart and customer service, I will buy through B&H again.

I must admit when I first ordered this BenQ ScreenBar LED Light from B&H, I thought that maybe this will turn out to be a frivolous accessory. But I was wrong! The BenQ ScreenBar LED Light provides even and glare-proof lighting across my entire desktop, and monitor screen. In addition the options to adjust the color temperature and auto brightness, make this the perfect accessory for my photo editing. Also, it fits perfectly on my BenQ PD2705U monitor. This is definitely worth consideration, especially at this price point.

BenQ is an industry leader and this monitor lives up to BenQ’s reputation

This is my second BenQ Monitor, but different in some aspects. I am 80 years old and need the benefits of a monitor that protects my eyes. I do the bookkeeping and all the email for my Pipe Organ business and use my computer every day. It is just the right size. I cannot use a monitor larger than this one at 21.5. Large ones are too overwhelming. I appreciate the benefit of the daily use of the BenQ Eye-Care Monitor. Before I got the first BenQ monitor my eyes watered a lot and were tired at the end of the day. I sometimes work until late in the evening, and often use the monitor until after midnight. BenQ monitors are the best, in my opinion.

Before I purchased this BenQ Monitor, I had an older 1440p 27 monitor that I bought back in 2014. Wow what a difference! Right out of the box this monitor has colors that really pop and the the pictures are very sharp. The color accuracy and sharpness is much better when working on my digital photography as well. I feel that this monitor is well worth the money, especially if like me you were interested in upgrading the size, I went from 27 to this 32 and the extra 5 is worth it, especially since the resolution is now 4K! I would highly recommend this monitor!

The BenQ monitor was easy to setup and configure. So far it seems to be a definite upgrade from my old monitor.
